Wow thats a big machine, looking for a 35 or 50 size excavator myself. You must have big plans for the new property. Please post pictures when you get it
Big plans for the ranch.
New desert property will get attention later.
Need to redo pond and expand it. Etc.
Have a LOT of big trees to take down and that size machine is the most “bang for the buck” that I can afford.
Buying generators, trailers and parts isn’t helping.

Do the guys who use these generators for standby power leave them out in the weather 24/7 or build an enclosure for them?

I know their built for staying outside but that definitely takes a toll on them over time.

I was thinking of doing a little Tuff-Shed
This is what I did for mine. (It looks crooked but trust me, it's not. )

It came with this strange floor plate up front.
Have no idea what it’s used for.

That would depend on what system it was a part of. If you took a picture of every data plate on the trailer, then we might be able to tell you. There are at LEAST 3-4 data plates on the trailer.
I did
Their posted in one of the threads above.

Nice enclosure but it is going to put exhaust right against the house. Very good chance of CO Poisoning in the house. If you have to leave it there be SURE to install CO detectors in the house.
I figured someone would pick up on that. ;) Thanks for the observation. I have a black iron exhaust that carries it up and out the gap on the right side of the enclosure. I removed it because I removed all the top covers. I wasn't happy with my exhaust and I am thinking that I may try to fab up a venturi system that will draw the exhaust up and through a hole in the fence. Something similar to the vent in a gas water heater.

I do have multiple CO detectors throughout the house. All tied together so if one goes off, they all do.

If you end up putting the black iron back on, consider adding a flex coupling near the generator ( if you haven't already )
Having added solid pipe attached rigidly will eventually lead to a crack in the muffler.
Thanks Ray. I did not have a flex coupling which is why I want to do some type of venturi exhaust. That way I can have a short piece of pipe extend vertically into the larger pipe without touching it. I will suspend the larger, sheet metal pipe from the roof of the enclosure with a 90 degree bend and out the side. I have to experiment to see if this will even work. I know some gas water heaters have to have a power vent but some do not. I don't want a power vent for obvious reasons. If I can't get it to work, I will put my original exhaust on and add a flex pipe

By "flex Pipe" Ray is not talking about that old stuff we used on our cars. This is what he means, it just goes between the factory pipe and your extension. It absorbs vibrations. The iron pipe will need to be supported at the connection to the flex.

Yes, thanks. I just welded two of them on my wife's car.
