Anyone out there know where I can get winterization kits for an 802A & 803A?
NSN 6115-01-476-8973
NSN 6115-01-477-0564
respectively.

Anybody have any positive/negative experience with these?

There was a part number in a thread a while ago i believe they cost over $2000. That buys alot of anti gell, tarps and kerosene heaters.

If this is the arctic block heater mod, I don’t know where to get them. But mine came with one and works great to keep the coolant warm, burns around 0.1 gph.
I dont know if we are talking about the same thing but my semi once had a diesel burning little heater that circulated water through the block to pre heat the engine. it worked ok and it took about 15 min to heat a 1693 cat to around 100 degrees before start. i wouldn't leave it on all the time though

Your semi device sounds similar in function. I'm just looking for a new or used takeoff to install on my 802A and 803A. Something to switch on for awhile before use. Nice to have when it suddenly dips to-35.

You won’t find one at an affordable price, like others said. You would be best to snipe the gp and gl sites and wait for a genset to show up with one already built in.

I can certainly understand why you would want one though, being where u are from. Good luck.

My MEP802A on a trailer came from Ft Drum with less than 10 hours on it. Would have been nice to have that one equipped for CW environments.

Mine also came from fort drum last spring. 22 hours on it. Mint, non-rebuild. Spray painted on the side was military police stuff. Also, no heater. I’m pretty sure the ones with cold weather kits come from Alaska. Just a guess.

What our cold weather isn't good enough!! LOL Not sure on the military's rationale on winterized equipment requirements, but just hoping to find one from a Guard unit or northern states post.

I picked mine up from Fort Drum back in 2015, and it had the block heater installed. Drum is the home of the 10th Mountain Division, I assume that’s why it had the mod.

I found a pair of winterization kits on a GL auction about a month ago.

NSN 6115-01-575-5744
Winterization kit, Generator Set

Also known as "Universal Kit, Digital Heater"
Cage: 30554
P/N: 09-2000
Gov't Price: $3840.85

The kit comes with an Eberspächer / Espar Hydronic D5WSC 24V diesel-fired coolant heater, a dedicated electric fuel pump, and all parts and instructions needed for installation on the 5KW - 60KW 8xx series of MEP's.

Although this is a universal kit, the installed result has a unique NSN and P/N depending on the KW rating of the generator it's installed on. Below is a list of the possible TQG's that can be satisfied by this same kit:

Size60 Hz Models400 Hz ModelsNSNCageP/N
5 KWMEP-802AMEP-812A6115-01-476-89733055498-2005
10 KWMEP-803AMEP-813A6115-01-477-05643055498-2010
15 KWMEP-804A / MEP-804BMEP-814A / MEP-814B6115-01-477-05663055498-2015
30 KWMEP-805A / MEP-805BMEP-815A / MEP-815B6115-01-474-83543055498-2030
60 KWMEP-806A / MEP-806BMEP-816A / MEP-816B6115-01-474-83443055498-2060

There are 2 custom wiring harnesses in the kit. One for the 5, 10 & 15 KW generators (the ones with preheat), and another for the 30 & 60 KW generators (the ones with ether assist).

This particular kit comes with a digital diagnostic tool that interfaces with the heater and can display fault codes stored in the heater's control board. I believe there were earlier versions of the winterization kit that gave diagnostic info via a series of long/short blinks of the indicator light on the control panel.

Shelf life

Both kits were missing the same 3 incidentals:
- Sealing, Compound (Permabond LM012)
- Sealant, Silicone, High Temperature (Loctite 59630 or RTV106)
- Grease, Low Temperature (AeroShell 33MS or 64)

Apparently, those 3 items had exceeded their shelf life and were stripped from the kits prior to the auction. There was an MSDS in the kit for those products, but not the products themselves. It took a little searching, but i was able to find replacements online.

It looks like each KW rating of generator has it's own P/N and NSN for the installed result, but they're all satisfied by this same kit.

5KW: 802A, 812A,
10KW: 803A, 813A,
15KW: 804A/804B, 814A/814B,
30KW: 805A/805B, 815A/815B,
60KW: 806A/806B, 816A/816B
Good work Uniquify!!!!

If you come across anymore of these let me know. I would think there are plenty out there somewhere with the thousands of MEP gensets in inventory.
