Military/J-Code Heads?

I believe anything after '87 on civilian trucks are j code, not positive though. I would check the TM and cross reference with Napa or Advanced

Gm started to build the 6.2 J code in 1982 any truck with non emissions - 1 ton , 3/4 ton truck and 3/4 ton suburbans and vans would have the J code they are not just a military use engine just a non emissions engine no EGR. [thumbzup]

The secret is in the sauce...

Don't buy too much into the J code thing. Blocking off a EGR'ed 6.2 is basically the same effect. Heck I used to be on a GM diesel forum and swapping in a J code intake manifold was the "in" thing to do.

Thought I seen some where the castings are the same. The pre-combustion chamber cup openings were different sizes.
