Just picked up my M1009 that was posted in the classifieds here..I love it! good shape, seems solid. I have a few questions though...
Was there originally tow hooks on the rear? Mine looks like they are missing...Or at least I thought they were, until I looked at others and saw the same thing...Was there originally supposed to be hooks there, or is that for something else?
On the drivers side valve cover it has, in yellow paint, a date painted on it 12-5-95, and a long series of numbers..I will try to get a picture of this to post so maybe somebody can explain or decipher..Wondering if it had an engine swap? Or maybe just head work?
What grenade works best for the tcase handle? Something easy to get at the local Army/Navy surplus store? Love the look as seen here on the forum!
last one....And I see this has been covered to death, but I am still undecided and generally hesitant...What is the best undercoating on a budget? I assume 3m rubberized spray, but I hear it fades and collects dirt, looking like crap..I have heard hit/miss on POR15....Same with DIY bedliner....Is there some silver bullet Im missing here? I would like a rugged, non faded or crap collecting, black undercarriage.
Stupid newbie questions..Sorry if its been covered over and over....This site is great! Pics to follow tonight when I get home...had to dodge tornadoes last night
