No Longer Stuck here w/no primary air, safe to drive home?

I have secondary air but no primary air with no air leaks to be found. Can't leave it here, do I gamble with only secondary air? Worked fine 8 hours ago and just sitting in the parking lot. Tried starting, turned everything off then started again but still no primary air.

Check your air dryer expello valve. There are 2 valves by the wet tank for primary and secondary air. Check and make sure the 4 petcocks are closed. There are also check valves between the air dryer and tanks that can freeze up. Sometimes you can tap on them and get it free. Is there a difference between parking brake on and off?

Have you verified no air at the tank or are you just going by the gauge?

Verified no air at petcock on 2 of the valves. 2 other valves have pressure.

Parking brake is working normally.

Do you hear it leaking somewhere? Can you drain the secondary and it refills?

Ok, just drained secondary, now no air building in either tank.

Expello valve stuck open. Insert finger in hole push up.

Then spray some wd40 in there

Geez, all of a sudden both tanks are building pressure normally. Looks like draining secondary did the trick?

If your expello valve was temporarily stuck it will stick again. Lubricate it then replace the air dryer when you get home.

This happened to me on a recovery trip with a 925. Valve stuck open. Scared me as it happened during rush hour in Oklahoma City. Pushed it in and was able to make it the rest of the way with no further issues.

Dryers are something you service, not replace.

I think replacing it with a new unit would be more peace of mind and would hopefully avoid me making it worse. Found some in the classifieds here and will be ordering.
