I need someone who can help me get her from
New Hampshire down to StPetersburg.
1500 miles.
I have started a non-profit corperation

This is a PROJECT TRUCK for restoration by Veterans, new, old, sick, disabled, convelescent or just plain grumpy.
I work for Uncle Sam and I am committed to helping out my BROTHERS.
If you have any advice on how I can get" my girl" home, please advise.
Any information on the Ops of a XM211,good,bad or ugly will be helpful.
I got a lot to learn, and a BIG restoration project in mind.

BFR is kidding you about the fact that the XM211 is made by GMC. Dog777, you better plan on $2.00 a mile for that haul, if you get it cheaper, you will be lucky. Lot of people have luck with a web site called Uship, you post your load there and truckers will email you bids. Do a search on "bad trucking companies" here for some tips of good and bad experiences with companies. Semper Fi.

Yep, I am back.
Keep up the good work fellas.
I feel that it is just a matter of time,
till I see my XM211 in my drive-way.
Anybody got any info on the transmission fluid I should use.Originally it calls for plain 30 w Oil.Then some say I should use modern ATF.
Any comments??

Yep,
The only thing to expect,
is the unexpected,
therefore no surprises.
Gotta "Take that Hill"
Whatever the problem,
there is always a solution.
As per
Military Standard 1520.
Analyze the problem,
assemble the team,
and secure the objective.
I am blessed to work with Vets everyday. Some fresh off the IED trail, some still fighting on a beach or Jungle far away. But,young or old,my mission,
per Abe Lincoln-To serve and care for those who have borne the burden of battle.
Thats my job,
and I love every minute of it.
God Bless America,
and dont shoot that little furry thing in the bushes tonight,
its that little ole Easter Bunny.
Be safe,troopers,gotta go.
Been nice talkin to ya.

I wanted that one myself but just bought an M35 so funds were a bit tight. Only about 50 miles from me.
You got a good price I think. It's going to cost a lot more to move it than you paid for it.
Best of luck to your org and finding a way to get it down there!!! I grew up close to you and went to Dunedin high.

YEP-The Mountain is tallest,from far,far away

Thanks guys. Its not that I may bitten off more then I can chew.
Its a committment to getting a job done.Chances are taken, expectations are high.
I believe in a "CAN DO " philosphy.
I am not saying I am right by buying a vehicle so far away,
but,
I know the MISSION I am on,
this is not for personal gain.
Its to put a smile on an 87 year old Marine,Sailor or Grunt.
Its to give the one who lies in a nursing home a little light.
Its to give the 20 year old something to focus on rather then reflecting on reality.
It might just be changing a tire,
it might be just taking a ride with his family and others to a park for a picnic,
it might be just seeing this piece of HISTORY going past in a PARADE,
and a little boy saying to his Dad-"Look Dad, its an Army truck"
My viens run true with the red, white and blue,
and I will get this truck to Florida,
if I got put it on my back.
Did I bite off more then I can chew?
Definitely,
Did I bite off more then WE can chew???
This is a TEAM effort.
I am not asking for somethin for FREE,
just a way to get it done,
like in the movie-Flight of the Intruder..............."I'd do it for you.":|

Get it roadworthy and purchase historic plates, 75.00, collector ins. and drive it down with a friend following in a separate car in case of trouble. It might be good to take it to a mechanic and check it over before taking it on the trip. The brakes are usually the culprit on these old 211's. Need all systems working on a trip this long. Lites wipers, brakes, engine, tranny. Good tires wih a spare, tool set and lug wrench , good jack fluids filters, alot can happen. And its not going to move faster than 45 mph, so dont get on the interstates. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

My Dad always said-"Dont panic"

Thanks for the input Pa.And BFR,thanks for the heads up,geezzz,I guess the first thing I should know about "Ole K9" is what she is.
GMC huh?Yeah, makes sense. Its stamped right on the valve cover.
Yea, I have had a day now comtemplating things. Its like when I met my wife, its in it now for better or for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health.
Dont know what the future holds, but,I am tickled pink to own her.
And PA, I was thinkin about the drive down here.At about 6miles to the gallon, the drive/trainride up, and all the possilbilties of mission failure, I gotta feel my way through this situation. I am very fortunate to have a secure place to store the girl, time is not my problem.
Anyway, yes advice, I am gona need a mountain of it once I get the restoration process going.
I am new to this tent, and I appreciate evryones posts and returns.
Happy Easter to all, and to all be safe.

By the time you buy fuel to get there and then fuel to get back then hotel lodging and food you're going to have $1,200.00 and a full week invested in the "mission" and that's assuming you don't have to spend a couple of days getting "Ole K9" ready to drive. It's also assuming you don't have trouble along the way.

At 45 MPH it's going to take forever to go 1,500 miles. You'd almost be better off having it hauled to Florida.
