Nice cuffs. I had a partner who had a set just like them. Funny no other cops ever stole (found) her cuffs. Stupid admin complained and she had to ditch them, because the suspects didn't like being handcuff with pink cuffs. True story...it's California.

You know that story of that wild-and-crazy sheriff in Arizona? His name escapes me right now, in Arapico (sp?) County I think it is.

I recall that he issued only pink clothing to the all perps in his jail. And he cut down on recidivism (that was hard to spell and I hope I got it right), by something like 90% (real numbers). I'm guessing the perps didn't go clean; but instead once they got out they never came back to HIS county. They were gone.

This was a story from years ago, back when I was chasing Wackenhut prison work for a big national GC. I admired the man's style. He was always doing something out-of-the-box. I think he's still at it; maybe even in the same County.

Wait a minute, I keep forgetting…what was the OP here again?

Was kinda wishin I had them PINK handcuffs slapped on me today - would have matched the fun getting the project started.
Just straight forward pressure washing - you can see the soaps I used - the green stuff is a de-greaser mixed with the wild dog to remove grease stains - it removes it right out of the surface.

Thank you - I am glad the thread helps someone even if they do not post or reply per pm if it helps them on a budget - this is what this thread is all about - IF you want to see a major project keep watching later this year - you will see a professional project as well.

If you look close at the pics - you will already see there are minor area's to repair - keep following and I will help the best I can.
I only say this because I have been there and I never forget what it feels like and still want to have something nice for as hard as I work - I want to be able to drive it - have fun in it. CAMO all the way - Georgia Mafia even worse.

I could have hooked the pressure washer hose to the house hot water heater and used that sourse - I did not. The soap works good on its own to bite into the surface even with cold water pressure as a rinse. The cost of using the hot water heater over a hot water pressure washer is insignificant - the soap does its own thing - just more expense not needed.

Sunday - try to get some flat black shot. Stay tuned

Wild Dog is a product of Steve Flynn, he is a specialist in detailing products. He is also a good friend of Commander Z's. Those of you coming to the cookout, check out what you want on his website and he can deliver to the cookout as he has a way cool portable shop. I got a bunch of stuff last summer for the boats and cars from Steve, most awesome products.

Tell him Dave sent you!

I had about 3/4 of the Behr Marquee paint left - I used 1/2 cup of water to thin it down - if I had a full gallon I might have gone the whole 3/4 reducing.
I have a mass selection of guns to shoot with - I used my Siphon HVLP gun with a 1.6 tip . you do not want this paint runny - you want it still thick enough and shoot it with higher pressure. If you were shooting area's Like I was doing your using almost the needle spray the entire time - thick enough NOT to run and not reduced enough to where you wind up having to spray 4 or 5 coats just to get the color right. Anyone not knowing how to adjust a paint gun just pm me - you really need to know how to set these.

Here are the pics of the day - anything not BLACK gets OD - the 24052 Behr paint will cover and not shadow the tiny area I shot around the grille - this all gets masked off later as well as the headlight. Weather is turning for the worse again down here - so High Noon was my cut off time - time to air dry and adhere.100_1818 (640x480).jpg100_1819 (640x480).jpg100_1820 (640x480).jpg100_1821 (640x480).jpg100_1822 (640x480).jpg100_1823 (640x480).jpg100_1824 (640x480).jpg100_1825 (640x480).jpg100_1826 (640x480).jpg

Two of the Behr ultra or Marquee - your call Bro - when they are in the search program at Homey - have them type in 24052 - flat - this black is the Marquee Flat Black Matte. What I like about this stuff is no dirt or dust will stick to it.

What you going to do with the inside of the bed Swiss ? If its painted we need 3 gallons.

Thanks for the info. For a noob like myself this is awesome. I have a few questions. Spraying the wheels, frame and grille, is it that simple, no taping till you come with your next color? I have a HVLP sprayer in my storage, have to pull it out and see what tips I have. The paints your using are just BEHR paints? Exterior paint I assume. How long does it generally last? Sorry if I missed that and it was mentioned earlier.

Yup just ole Behr exterior Ultra or the new Marquee brand.

If your gun is adjusted properly - it is simple - if its not you can get a heaping big gob of paint or little paint with little coating.
These were shot with the spray pattern in a 0 - and not fanned for wider coverage - therefore - you volume adjust on the back of the gun has to be adjusted to not let a great deal of paint out.

Here is what you do to adjust your gun:

If its a normal HVLP it MIGHT have an air adjuster on the bottom of the handle- if there is turn it to full volume - use a paint gun air gauge where your air line attached so you can watch it. I was shooting the thicker stuff with 50 lbs at this setting.
Turn the knob on the top left side of the gun all the way in (not tight) - this is the fan adjuster
Turn the top knob on the back side of the gun - top one all the way in as well (not tight) this is your volume of paint that is allowed to come out the tip

Get your air pressure to setting - gun with paint load in it - go do a test pattern on the side of something flat. Slowly open the volume knob till you see paint - you will have a pattern of 0.
Slowly open up the volume a little more and you will see more paint coming out - then slowly open your fan spray pattern til it is about 4 inches wide - what your looking for is paint pattern that is wet but not running when you full open the trigger - you want a fan patter of about 4 inches (I have one that sprays about 20 inches) and wet paint in this full pattern.

Shooting the rims - I used the 0 fan pattern and backed off the paint volume and just worked on getting coverage - you have to work these adjustments as you go along to fit the area's shooting - Like I mentioned - almost ALL what I shot today was in the 0 fan pattern and low paint volume. Different when you shoot flat open surfaces as you will be seeing in the near future.

Last - mine looks awesome after a year of abuse and crapola bro - its only $38 a gallon an cleans up with water and you can shoot it dang near anywhere.
