That has to be the most kick ass tow vehicle i have ever seen. Usually the real effort goes into the toy you are towing. 100% freakin awesome.

Soni showed up with his M920 on Saturday - towing a monster gooseneck trailer, as well as a smaller military lube service trailer. The small trailer is based on the M416 chassis - and is now converted into a trail camper. The big truck can make 80 MPH - but Soni slowed to around 65 in the areas with snow on the road!

The small shelter mounted on the truck? Looks like a S-250. They were used for a lot of things, mostly electronics. I wish my M818 had a longer wheelbase so I could mount my shelter like that. Anyone got any M814 framerails theyre not using?

As KsM715 says - the shelter is a regular Gichner S-250/G - with a mod tag for some kind of radio gear. There are a lot of variations in antenna mounts, cable holes, etc. that really aren't important unless you're trying to set up a shelter with all the original electronic gear for some particular system. In this case, it's used for storage of support equipment - and I believe Soni likely gutted the shelter of the original inside gear.

Totally impressive rig to be sure.

The shelter mounted on the back of the truck, did he open an access from the cab into that shelter?

EDITED TO ADD: I have learned that no, there is no direct access from the cab into the "Sleeper".

I think I saw pictures of this rig elsewhere on this site. Anybody happen to have a link handy to that thread?

The wheel base on Soni's truck has not been altered. You can put 1600x20's on it if you want. Others on this site have in fact done so.

If your purchasing a M920 you might want to read over this thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-mods-hot-rodding/62594-m916-m920-tech-tips.html it has lots of discussion from Soni and others about a wide variety of topics, including tires, gears, engine, trans.....

Here is another thread talking about mods to the engine: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-mods-hot-rodding/63112-ntc-400-mo-power.html

Hydraulic system, "Wet Kit" info: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-up/61262-m920-wet-kit.html

5th Wheel Plate: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-up/63819-5th-wheel-plate-m920-m916.html

Hope this helps some....

Happy reading! :)

I saw this truck when I was a kid in a magazine, thought it was absolutely badass so I had to make something. Made some car collages with my dad, the picture of this rig in driver side profile was the main course. Glad I was able to follow up on this as an Adult.
