Up for consideration is my 1989 BMY M923A2 ROPS cab. The truck went through a 2011 rebuild and upfitted with the ROPS cab. Currently has only 5500 miles and is 100% functional/condition and zero rust. I have added some personalized touches (heated seats, lights, interior accessories etc.) to make it more daily drivable. I drive this truck about twice a week to run errands and go to car shows (that is more then I drive my regular truck, since I work from home).

I have a full build thread here:

I have put about 400 miles on the truck since the 1st of the year and have done several birthday parties and shows already. It is great to see kids light up when they see the truck and get a chance to get in/on it.

My kids had to climb to the top this year to find their Easter baskets:

I love how this truck allows me to meet all sorts of new people. And the inevitable first question: why? What do you use it for?

This is the most fun vehicle I have owned, and it is a continuous smile while driving it. This is also my birthday month so it would mean a lot to receive your vote!

This looks to be an exciting month. Honestly, I usually cast my vote right away to make sure I don't forget. And usually one vehicle will jump out at me from the first set of pictures. But I love the campaigning part the most. There are some fine looking vehicles here, Good Luck to you all!

Ooh! Look at all the big trucks. There’s no denying it… Big trucks rock!

But don’t look past the HMMWV! You know at Halloween when they come out with the small candy bars and they call ‘em “Fun Size”? Well, this HMMWV is most certainly Fun Sized! In my short period of ownership, this HMMWV has been to a parade, the annual Texas MV rally, and a car show. More to come on that.

Oh yeah, the HMMWV is great for picking up pizza! If you like pizza, vote for this truck!!!!

Alright… the back story. Grab a seat and get comfy because I’m going back to the beginning.

I was traveling back in January and had the pleasure of meeting a good friend (Mr. @fuzzytoaster) for lunch. Said friend may or may not have mentioned that he had several HMMWVs and that I was already pre approved for the HMMWV adoption program. Adopting a HMMWV had never crossed my mind before. I mean, my wife and I already have several MVs in the family. A couple years ago, we even took in an exchange MV from the U.K. So, back on topic here, I told my buddy that adopting a HMMWV is a big commitment (not one I’d take lightly) and I’d have to discuss it with my wife.

As it turns out, my wife was very receptive to taking in a small (relative to the M936), young (it is a 2006 model that had less than 4,000 miles) HMMWV. So that was it… We worked with @fuzzytoaster to finalize details for the adoption.

I must say that this HMMWV flourished in Mr. @fuzzytoaster’s foster care! The transformation was nothing shy of astounding. What am I talking about? Well, let’s say that this HMMWV came from a BIG family and, with so many siblings, she simply didn’t get the attention she deserved. See what I mean >>

Like I said, the transformation was amazing in Mr. @fuzzytoaster’s foster care.

And then came that proud moment when the adoption paperwork was finalized and our new MV came home!

Folks! I ran this post through my free internet fact checking app. The app confirmed that every word is true.

So, please listen to @chucky and vote for the HMMWV this month!

On that first evening when we brought the HMMWV home, my wife couldn’t wait to take her around the neighborhood and show all the neighbors. Of course, by that time, it was getting dark and I don’t think the neighbors could see much. 🤷‍♂️

Early the next morning, we began introducing the HMMWV to her new siblings.

Wouldn’t you know it… these two hit it off like peas in a pod! Thick as diesel thieves they are!

The day after adopting our young HMMWV, we decided to parade her through town and show her off to everyone. (Secretly, I think my wife was disappointed that the neighbors couldn’t see her after dusk the night prior.)

The turnout was amazing! Hundreds (dare I say thousands) of people came out to greet our new HMMWV. I think the reception from our community really helped make her feel welcome in her new home.

Oh, and you guessed it, her big sibling came along for the ride too.

Alright folks! Get up, stretch your legs, take a bio break if needed, refresh your beverage and then hurry back to get comfy on the couch. The chronicles of our adopted HMMWV are about to continue.

At the time, I really didn’t appreciate how big of an emotional impact parading through a town full of new and welcoming neighbors had on the young HMMWV. I’m guessing that she may have even shed a tear although she’s tough and she’d never let me see that kind of emotion. It wasn’t long after that she developed a slight issue in one lens.

I am no optometrist nor have I played one on TV! Shoot, it had even been a while since I last stayed at a Holiday Inn. But I knew I had to help her! Fortunately, Mr. @fuzzytoaster had a few extra sets of the new and improved lenses! I’ll tell you what, he is top-notch!

Someone with the initials “UPS” medevac’ed the new lenses to me. I sure hope to meet Mr. or Mrs. UPS some day and properly thank them in-person. I’m very grateful. As you can tell by comparing the old and new lens, my HMMWV’s condition was much worse than initially expected!

Okay, I’ll let y’all in on a little secret. I did go stay at a Holiday Inn that night. It worked!!!! I was able to get the young HMMWV all fixed-up. She is better than ever before!
