Id like to know how people are forming a seal around the door windows. I'm thinking next time I'm going to build the door around the window like a traditional door and do a normal door seal. LOL listen to myself. Not even done with my first and I'm already planning my second.
Some of the original seals are still in place, but for the rest I have not done anything permanent, only temporary black foam insulation that's been rtv'd on.

After replacing the door seals on the CUCV this past weekend, I contemplated welded a small rail on the roof and cab then attaching regular door seals or just screwing the seals into the metal. Have not gotten a better look to see which would be better or even if there's enough clearance to weld a rail to hold the pinch seals.

We got the final floor metal down, rear seat crossmember installed, drivers side exterior sheetmetal installed, and the passenger side sheetmetal prepped to install.

Well, the past two months have been really crazy with getting the house ready for sale, vacation, and family time. We've missed a lot of time on the project but have made progress the past couple of weeks. The cab metal work is complete, the seats have been completely installed and then removed, the center structural hoop has been installed, our top is cut, and starting to go back together.

Any thoughts on the best options for the window seals? I had thought about making something up but them also thought about buying more of the factory seals/hardware. Is stuff like that just available for universal fit?

I got a few hours of work in on Wednesday. I finished the upper B pillars, welded them in, cleaned out the cab, installed the front seats, started it up, and backed it out to take it to the exhaust shop. My son was sitting in it waiting, but when I went back out it had an air leak. It looks like while we were working on the cab we broke one of the fittings on the back of the air tank. I picked up a new fitting yesterday and hope to put it on and start over Monday.

My hard top has a pinch seam all the way around the door.... well the top and back. I plan on using a gasket that will slide over that and seal to the window.
LT Dan ,you better get after that roof of yours before the rust starts to go through. I waited to long on one of mine and now I don't know if it's worth the effort. :(

Where are we on this build. I have been studying your build, heavily. I just picked up a M46A2 for the express purpose of doing a crew cab ( already have a spare cab to get it going). The roof has been a concern of mine. Your picture taking of the process has been very helpful. I am eagerly waiting to see your pics of the roof making ............ Thanks for all your effort in bringing us your project step by step.

We're working again on Thursday and I hope to have the top completed by the end of the day. I'll try to post pictures after we get that done. I'm hoping to have it in the paint booth within 2-4 weeks.

Skeleton in, sheetmetal welded on. We still need to clean up the welds, possibly weld a little more, clean the edges, and do seam sealer. It's plenty strong though because I sat on it this morning (which I would never do on the factory top). I also got the muffler the other day so I hope to get the exhaust done in the next 2 weeks.

I was originally just going to use the same 16ga I used for the floor and side panels so it would be nice and thick but Lt. Dan questioned me on that which made me think twice. I ended up using 20ga which I think worked perfectly.

Well, we had paint day yesterday. This week was long getting ready, but I'm happy with the outcome. Still need to put the interior together, top coat the bedliner, and fix a rear axle seal leak (as well as I'm sure 100 other small things). Will get some more pictures later. The first picture is from Instagram so the colors aren't completely natural looking.

Bed liner done, liner in the cab, seats installed, tires painted with Miller Tire Paint, door seals installed on the passenger side (still need to do the drivers side Monday). I just need to sell some parts now to fund the window tint and headliner.

I like it! The tool box and battery box matching front make it look better. I have noticed a lot of the 5 ton crew cab's that have the factory fuel tank and toolbox that make it nearly impossible to enter the rear doors. Awesome build!
