Wheel studs and lug nuts

When dealing with an outside flat, just place a 2x8 in front or back of the inside tire and drive up on it. No jack needed and it'll be solid so you can work on the lugs. Use a bar to lift the tire and wheel when installing, it'll save your back. When pulling a tire and wheel off of the hub, place yourself so your back is towards it, then lift and slide it out and off the hub. Easier, and there's no chance of you falling backwards and having the tire fall onto you like when facing it.

Called NAPA this AM and they are telling me that this stud part#BK641-1615 does not go into this bud nut or nut.

From what they gentlemen is telling me the stud is too small to fit into the bud nut, but these #'s look like the correct items. BK 641-2000 (Budd Nut), and BK 641-2011 (Nut).

I asked them if they could cross reference the #'s to get the correct stud.

Is there any chance there is a typo in the part# above?

Thanks for helping.

NAPA has a stud the same diameter but we can't determine the length of the stud needed.
Could you measure the stud you have and reply with a length.

Gee, found out why I was losing gear grease from the left rear.

Looks like whom ever did the break job at the motor pool did not put the cork in...

The good thing is the breaks are in great shape with about 1/4" meat on them.

Bad news is I wanted to change out the stud that snapped when changing out the tire that time.

Here is my quandry...

How did you get the studs off of the break drum?

There looks like wire inter woven through every two nuts on the back of the drum.

Looks like you would need to cut that and remove them from the drum housing and then replace your stud and put everything back together again.

I can figure out how to wire the nuts, but what purpose does this server? So they do not back out?

What do you rewire the nuts with?

Regards,

Chris
