Love the capability to run multifuel is a huge plus. I would like to convert my deuce (getting one soon) with 3/8" mild steel plate with phonebooks in the middle and another plate of 3/8" inside. I have the drawings, friends and shop can do it for me. The phone book will be sandwich between two 3/8" mild steel. The question I have would this be illegal in Cali for have a armored truck?

I don't know about legal in califonia ( not much is it seems ) but the phone books will hold moisture and cause problems related to that.

You can own an armored vehicle in California, but it requires a permit. I just learned that this year. Don't know what is involved in obtaining the permit, but just know you have to have a permit to own an armored vehicle. Now.......I don't know what their exact deffinition of "armored" is. Seems to me, that it should be absolutely none of their business if it is something I created myself.
Sounds like a cool project. That would ad a LOT of weight very quickly, and the thing will be even slower, but it would take one heck of a bullet to go through two 3/8" plates and phone books!

Great info... Armored truck is not an armored car. From what I digested, it should be ok. Secondly it will be covered anyway. Yes with two 3/8" with phonebook it should able to take a good 7.62 x 51. Why I need this? SHTF and protect my family.

One weakness is the rest of the truck. Take out the engine or tires and light a fire under it and your goose is cooked. Just a thought.

With that kind of weight I would look into an older 5 ton, with the multifuel.

there is a place in Waco, TX (i think that is the location) that makes a pressboard type materialmade of kavlar. it is a bullet resistant material and is a fraction of the weight. i saw a TV show that showed the product and i was think of using it in the walls of my M109a3 when i redo it as a RV. if i remember you just cut it with a circular saw.

I thought about putting 1/4" plate on my truck more for looks than functionality, even though it'd probably stop pistol calibers. This has been stuck in my head since getting back from the sandbox and riding in MRAPs. Just something about being in a MV and expecting to be bulletproof now
