Well "The General" is out of the paint shop and as promised here's photos of the work. OD Green purists may want to avert their eyes and look elsewhere. :p

The color is a custom-mix we call Sunset Red. The hue, depending on the light, goes from fire engine red to burnt orange, copper and candy apple. It was shot with a base coat of gold metallic, then a coat of clear candy apple and then a coat of clear. We had the brush guards, handles and mirror brackets powder-coated in silver, as well as the bumper.

The chrome trim on the clearance lamps are what were underneath all the layers of green paint. We found the chrome after soda blasting the marker trim. The horn was replaced with a chrome one, as well as a new exhaust pipe. Hope you like and hope it doesn't offend too many.

I like it........the old trucker in me has to ask......does it have the "naked lady" mudflap chrome accessories?

It also needs dual chrome stacks with bull hauler turn outs, and some polished aluminum rims.

I hope you put air ride seats and AC in it.

I second the lady mud flaps, air ride, and ac, but it needs rain caps, not turnouts....

What do you do with it? I like it, well done. It has a tough civi appearance now, and I kinda like that. The contrast makes it pop almost as much as the color.

Might be kinda neat with big Alcoas on it... photoshop anyone?

Purist here and I LIKE IT!!! Really nice work. Now we know how a CCC civilian tractor would look, it it had been made.

Thanks guys, yeah we kind of like it. No, no plans for the naked lady mudflaps though. Probably wouldn't go over well in our conservative farming community, lol.

The General is now tasked to haul grain and during the spring will be towing a spray-support trailer.

That is a great looking 915. All of your attention to detail certainly stands out. The lines of that truck are truly iconic.[thumbzup]

Thanks, it does get quite a few double and triple head turns going down the road. We left some of the military character in though. The padlock hasps are still on the door and some of the body welds we left in deliberately. And of course, the interior is all original and still OD green. No air ride seats (yet) and AC probably won't happen. This truck will get used hard during spray season and harvest. Then washed, waxed, greased and stored for the rest of the year.
