What did you do to your deuce this week?

Hi guys getting ready for a parade tomorrow just checked the oil it’s reading below add mark. I changed oil and filter 1month ago 19qts. Oil pressure is reading at 60, now I added some more almost another qt it’s almost to the A in add is their something I’m missing Cat 3116 thank you

Ok so I added another 3qts at 22 now almost to the D in ADD now. Triple checked TMs everything showing 19qts. I looked up CAT3116 Cat says 26qts for that engine. Not sure now

For what it’s worth, I used 21-22 quarts on a complete oil change. 2+ quarts in the filter then another 19 and my levels were spot on. I use the dip stick as my gauge as should you. The TM is good, but I believe the levels should be verified with the stick! Hope you made your parade today!

The Lake is about 24 miles round trip from home, so it's just a short run. Everything went well and the M105A2 & Shelter pull just fine. The last picture is my better half, and CO taking it easy. She installed some air fresheners in the shelter to give it that at home smell, along with some custom pillows, just to let me know that the shelter is now her HQ. Guyfang gave me some great ideas for making it into a little Green Hilton.

I didn't turn the injection pump up, no. There was enough of a noticeable increase in power after the FDC delete I opted not to change anything for longevity sake.
I usually use the M35 for local heavy hauling, but if I need to cover some longer distances with a load, I hook the pickup to the trailer after the Deuce has walked it out of the muddy woods/fields. Win/win for both trucks really.

Maybe it is the hills, but being bobbed, I would've assumed your truck would move better than one that still had that 3rd axle to power.
Thanks for the info 92ramaro! Yeah, a bobbed Deuce weighs about 1,200 lbs. less than a standard Deuce. I thought there would be a power increase too, but there doesn't seem to be. Brutus is the only Deuce I've ever driven, so I have nothing to compare his performance to. Maybe I should think about the FDC bypass myself. I only burn diesel and have no plans to burn anything else. I know there was a post on the FDC with pictures. I'll have to search it.

Fantastic use for a Deuce and a great looking one at that! It's always nice to have a CO like yours along for the adventure!

@Dipstick , even with the FDC bypassed, the engine will happily burn the full variety of fuels (but without the FDC it will not try to compensate for varying energy density; the truck will feel fine with Diesel and feel like having more or less power with other fuels, depending on the fuel used). Bypassing the FDC is cheap insurance against oil dilution.

I am driving a "pretend bobber" right now (interaxle driveshaft between the rears removed) and while I do not notice a power increase, I do feel that it turns tighter than before.

cattlerepairman, my truck felt the same way when I installed spline less front hubs. It doesn't feel any faster, but it turns tighter and easier than before. Also I think I picked up a couple miles to the gallon.

Yes sir truck was completely cold and lever when I originally checked I took it for the parade yesterday it was running oil pressure around 90 I’ll check it again tonight after work but yes I’ve been using the dipstick that’s why I’m scratching my head

I agree wholeheartedly with @BHaas35 - breaking down the wheels, cleaning and painting, then reassembling everything is a lot of work.

Removing six wheels from the truck and installing the six new ones felt like a holiday in comparison!

The rims are the Canadian two piece rims; I think they are very similar to the A3 rims.

I also adjusted toe-in (with two PVC pipes sliding in each other). I hated how the truck was squirrely all over the road with the previous radials. I know I had not touched the spring seats but I thought I had adjusted toe-in. Alas...not so.

Toe-in was set to exactly 1/4 inch. I turned it to zero. Almost nothing - but, wow, what a difference on the road!

Truck is so much more planted and I ran 55 mph over horrible roads on my test drive where I could barely hold 40 before, with the truck jumping all over the place.

Just installed some MRAP mirrors and did some painting.

Next job...wheel #7 is leaking...get to break that down again and reassemble. Maybe I pinched the O-ring. If it is worth doing, it's worth doing it again....or so I am telling myself.

Two straight days of drilling into this kryptonite. And hundreds of dollars of drill bits later. Got the hitch mounted. Probably the most frustrating job I have done yet. Never swore so much in my life…

I really like your hitch! I've drilled a few holes in my frame. I had no problems. The keys are low rpm about 350-400 rpm. Consistent even pressure and not too much of it. If the drill bogs down, you're pushing too hard. Let the drill bit cool off every minute or so. Put some tap magic or heavy oil on the bit. I've found that DeWalt Black Oxide bits are best for steel. Drilling in an upward direction is never easy or fun. These tidbits of knowledge were gained from my recent battery support fab. I hope you don't mind the above, but I give this kind of stuff a lot of thought and I only mean to be helpful.
