It would be a good idea to find out if you CAN own the thing before buying it.

I am willing to bet it still belongs legally to the government.

And, I am currently involved in a dispute over a M113 with the government so I am telling you it is possible you might buy into something more than a tank.

Are you the guy who emailed me and needed some help with electrical problems on the m113?

Geez Louise!! PLEASE give us an update on this M42. I was a loader on one of these in the 1950's in the Calif NG. Dang, to see one just sitting around!! Looks like an earlier one than the ones that served in Vietnam. No extra machine gun protection in the front of the tub.

Stolen - 1 tank from in front of Vets Hall over the weekend - thief now in prison. His brother is now trying to sell the tank before the Vet Hall can accumulate funds to haul it back.

I have a home for her

If nobody wants her, I would be happy to add her to my collection. We will hopefully be opening a museum in the next couple years. She would be great there...

Just let me know.

Emailed Rumplecat. He said owner is still in prison, but his wife scrapped the M42 out, even though Rumplecat told her he wanted to buy it. He checked the scrap yard, and it is gone. Figures yard owner either sold the M42 or kept it.

That is the biggest darn shame I've heard of yet about MV's here...and I follow the gama goat graveyard thread too. :-(

I know of another "tank" (model unkown at this time) That Im trying to save from the scrapyard. If the owner ever gets around to e-mailing me back with pics and what he wants for it. If he wants only scrap price for it I'll be all over it. It may cause me a divorce (or a few years in the doghouse), but if he wants more than I can come up with I'll be posting contact info here so someone can save it from becoming china made razor blades.

While I was at the junkyard the guy was finishing cutting up a Sherman hull, it was completely stripped but still a Sherman. He said he had been cutting on it for over a year! I gave him my number and told him I would pay double scrap price for any MVs that come in, of course I did the same to the other junk guy in the area and he has never called, too busy scrapping!

Photos are from a junkyard on the other side of the state.

I have a similar story. I had been looking for an M715 for several years when I stumbled across one about 20 min from my house. The man I spoke to was selling it for the owner and he had the title in hand so I didn't ask many questions. I found out later from the local mayor that the owner of the truck was trying to get bail money for child molesting charges and he had just sold his army truck. I like to think that I gave the truck a much better life than it would have had with its former owner. I just hope that I dont run into that guy when he gets out of jail. Makes my blood boil just thinking about it.

There are three Mogs in the bushes there all in poor shape. WeBe, nice looking restoration on the 715, the winch addition is a good capper for the project. KsM715 too late on the Sherman, last time I saw it a year ago there was just a big slab of armor plate left.
