Well guys, truck just left for Texas a couple of hours ago. The new owner is very happy, he is driving it home. I wanted to drive it some more at least for the summer, but I couldn't pass on the offer. Hopefully I can build another one someday. :-D

Would you be willing to share about what a truck like that is worth? I k now I saw it on ebay for almost 23,000.00 and the reserve had not been met yet. The reason I ask is if I buildone I would like to have some idea what it would be worth. Thanks

My goal/dream is a winched Deuce 6x6 Crew cab, A/C and Heat, Dual Fuel Tanks,Fording kit, dual stacks with dual mufflers, powersteering, Singled tires on hemmt rims, air ride seats, stereo, Laptop holder, navigation, TV DVD in the back for the kids, 24-to-12 volt converter. 4000watt 24-to-240/120 inverter. Fully insulated cab. One piece sealed windshield, Maybe air bags for the cab if that's possible. Basically a cross between this build and the Diablo build. Something I could drive cross country in to rallies or camping.

haha that's my dream as well. But i would put in a 400hp 5.9 cummins

I was think of putting an air ride mount on the rear of the cab on my next truck, but It would be hard to do since the front fenders and hood are tied to the cab. On semis the front doghouse is seprate from the cab, allowing the cab to float. Still might be able to put a little movement into it. I was also of thinking of air bagging the rear axel, and a dump bed on my next one. I have a M814 5ton, but they are to big and underpowered in stock form, so proably going to go with a M35. I have one with a brand new engine in it, thats rust free. If it keeps raining I may be working on it sooner than I think

Where there's a WILL there's a WAY. I wonder how noticeable adding some framework to support the fenders and hood to separate it from the cab would actually be? Next thing to wory about is would air ride effect the steering shaft or any of the cable actuated control? Also can the cab take the stress of not being rigidly attached or will it flex and stretch itself to destruction? Doesnt the cab have to hinge on the front? How would that be tackled?

My next thought, is an off the shelf solution feasible (such as I linked) or would it be better to fabricate your own from scratch utilizing either one or more airbags and shocks. And if you were to fabricate yourself, what airbags and shocks would be the proper ones for the application?

My cab is sone long it has to flaot on the frame, air bags are in its future. gotta remember i added over 6 feet of cab to mine, i could fit 2 more rows of seats in it. i ahve an extra long wheel base 5 ton,,that frame flexes ALOT! i dont want to tweak to bend the cab when it does this,,,the only solid points of frame contact on mine are at the front mounts, the rest is in very flexible rubber mounts so the cab can stay stiff and remian where it is wheile the frame under it flexes. the rubber mounts are still too stiff, so i am looking for air bags that will go in place of these mounts. one probelm would be keeping the air in them and preventing leaks in the system. bags should be linked together side to side if you put two in, so it will equalize and keep the cab straight. its just another one of the long list of projects to get done.

still need to get the 4 fuel tanks for it..anyone got any?

i am thinking about getting one of those 8 series tractors and singling it and making that suburban style body for it,,,that would be pretty cool and serve me quite well. wheel base wouldnt be so long then either,,i take about 1 acre to turn around in now as it is.

Dave I would also add shocks to keep it from bouncing and some kind of limiting system like a nylon strap and a bump stop to keep it from bottoming out and doing damage to the airbags. Any idea on something to keep the cab straight with the frame side to side but will still allow it to move up and down?

If you look at alot of semi type trucks, they have two little air bags and two small shocks both sitting at an angle to keep the cab in check from side to side. The hood could stay attached and float on the front grill some, but the fenders can't unless you want to bend some sheet metal and defeat the purpose of the air ride cab. I would think air bagging the rear axel would make a big differnce in ride also. I was planning on adding another set of air tanks for all this mess.
