The factory connectors for the delco 60g's would be Delphi/Packard type 56. you can get them from a few places such as www.pcsconnectors.com . Any 1/4 spade will fit, but these will be correct.
I'm getting the same mileage with 4.56 gears/33x10 tires and 700r4. I would assume the 3.73 gears would increase the mileage some but not drastically. I think the 4.10 would be about perfect with my set up but not worth the expense for the little difference I would see. With the Blazer I think...
If you are not real interested in lifting the truck, I would recommend 255/85r16 tires. They fit the stock wheel/suspension perfectly with no rub issues and true out to roughly 33x10.5. The selection is very limited in this size unfortunately. I'm running Toyo m-55 on one truck and BF mud KM2 on...
The factory A/C is on the left side above the steering pump. You can add those components but will have to convert to 12v unless you can fab the brackets required to run the A/C compressor and alternator on that side.
For bearings my preference is clevite, rings - perfect circle, pistons - maule (armoured top groove, fully machined and anodize hardened). The stud girdle is definately worth it if you can still get it. I've heard DSG no longer sells the 6.2 girdle and timing gear kit. As stated, check...
Mine almost fits that description. I consider it more of a refurb than restoration as it is no longer military. Started out as a quick clean up and ended up competely dismantled and rebuilt/modified. The truck is about 95% new with most parts NOS GM. Not a show piece but it's been reliable and...
You can still get them from www.oem-surplus.com . They have the updated version. They also have the mirrors pretty cheap, they are white but that is easily fixed.
You can still get the correct military fuel filter assembly from www.oem-surplus.com , it does not have the fuel pressure switch installed. These commonly leak so i did not install it. If you need the switch for the STE-ICE unit, it can be purchased at www.saturnsurplus.com .
You can get them from www.aircraftspruce.com or www.wagaero.com . Any aircraft homebuilder supply should have some different ones available, just stay away from certified aircraft parts - the cost is easily tripled for the same item.
Most of the replacement parts out there are now made in China and completely worthless. For a little more than the cost of Dorman Chinease hoses, you can replace them with -8 AN Aeroquip hose that will last a long time. They are very easy to make, the only difficulty is getting a 37* flare tool...
I converted mine to 12v for a few reasons and am quite happy with it. The only part of the truck that is 24v is the starter, everything else is 12v. There is a common misperception that the 24v starter is better, it is not. Both starters are rated at the same torque and rpm at their given...
Here's the pinout, but I'm not sure if it will help you too much. The Tach/Standard clusters are a little different. If you trace each pin on the printed circuit it's not bad to figure out. The STE/ICE get's the tach signal from the drivers side alt. There was a post not too long ago where...
You can use that cluster, you just need to cut out the plastic behind the tach. There is an open space on the printed circuit, trace it with a marker and cut the plastic so the hole matches that outline. The tach backs up to the cluster housing there and will bolt in where the fuel gauge was...
So my question is, what is involved in hooking up the GM tach?
Do you have the tach cluster assy or the the standard cluster? You can install the tach in the standard but it takes a little more work. You will need a vac pump with the ESS output to run the tach, using a signal converter to...
They most likely installed a 12v starter. The conversion is quite simple and I would go that route. For mine I left the system mostly intact and just rewired the alts in parallel to give a standbye system. Remove the red wire and condensor from the pass alt ground lug, insulate and secure the...
