There are two things with these trucks that scare the crap out of me and always make me mildly paranoid: 1. A runaway engine 2. The brakes failing. I hope the engine isn't damaged... Keep us in the loop.

I highly doubt you will find an even decent condition running truck for that much. I can't speak for your area necessarily, but around here in NC the cheapest I've seen a running Deuce go for was $3200, and it wasn't drivable (brake issues).

That's completely normal. It's the water pump forcing the coolant to flow. My guess if your radiator isn't getting hot at all is either a stuck thermostat or air pocket stuck at the thermostat or water pump. Another option is: if you flushed the system, you could have knocked some crud loose...

Make sure your radiator isn't clogged before you replace the thermostat. If you have an IR temp gun, get the truck warmed up and then use the thermometer across different areas of the radiator, if you have any significant temperature differences you probably have a blockage somewhere. If you...

I like where this thread is going... I never even thought to look into aftermarket radiators that could work with a Deuce. I have a slightly leaky radiator on our '76, I might go this route instead of getting a new one or getting the current one repaired. Thanks for the info Greg!
