Part of the fun of this project is the “taboo” of using an icon of MV history and (using above mentioned words): “chop it, scrap it or blow it up, turn it into a piece of crap, mutilate, bastardization” Not my words however, and modify it into something completely different.
This project is...
It will be fun. As indicated by the previous posts, this will be either a love-it or hate-it truck. Either way is OK with me. There are alot of very nice M37's out there in stock condition. Mine will be a nice-hot rod M37, or at least the fastest!
FUNNY!
You know what they say about California, what happens here, the rest of the country follows in a few years. I will be giving you guys advice about lowering m37 all around the country.
Part of the fun is seeing peoples reactions, good or bad. I see it all the time with the M715 which I lifted and fited with the SBC.
The truck was my son's idea. He said that if he was a soldier at age 18, he would want to drive a hot rod army truck. What you see, is the evolution of that idea...
The powertrain went to a good cause. I sold it to a guy who wants to restore his M37 to original.

Below are a couple of pictures of my newest project. I am converting my M37 to a lowered street rod. I have removed and sold the power train and purchased a rebuilt TBI 454 and automatic transmission from a 1988 Chevy dually.
I just purchased a Heidts independent front suspension with power...
I am keeping the frame and body. The engine, transmission, transfer case, drivelines, axles rims and tires (5) are all up for sale. The truck runs good and if your interested, you can drive it to check. I also have a pile of good engine parts included as well. Ideally, I would like to sell it...
Selling all of the running gear of a 1953 M37: Engine, transmission, transfer case, drive shafts, front and rear axle, five wheels and tires, several spare parts. Everything works, still in truck and drives.
Price: $1,200

I had my M715 rebuilt at a large clutch and brake shop in Sacramento. Most big cities can do it. Price was cheaper than most dealers charge. The had them done the next day. Check out the shops in your nearest large town.
Dry ice blasting is available as a kit for rental in some areas. Near my town, this company rents entire kits: http://www.completewelderssupply.com/
I do not know how it compares to sand with speed, but I have seen the finished work and it looks very clean. I saw the pictures of a greasy and...
The ID tag on the trans does not indicate what it is. This is the info that I got from Gov. Liquidation:
