    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

What a great job you are doing. Makes me want to go out back and kick mine. :( The '39/40 is all wood framed inside and the body panels are nailed to it rather than riveted or screwed. Also, being as the back panel was gone all those years it sat in the forest, there isn't a lot left to make...

    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

zout, thank you for documenting this project. You are lucky your interior is in such good shape. Mine was exposed to a hostile environment with the back open. Mine was a digger truck. It carried piping and an auger unit that was hung A-frame style off the rear and driven by a PTO. They used it...

    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

I plan to moisten it so it doesn't get airborn and suck it into a shopvac with plastic liner. from there it will go into a couple 5 gal buckets. I will seal and label them for proper disposal later.

    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

I don't know for sure, but the piece under the engine cover I will bet money is. gloves and mask and a vacuum, not pressurized air if you can help it.

be cautious with that grey sound padding, mine looks like asbestos and it is everywhere. I will be happy to get you some close ups of anything you want.

    Gmc 302 updates?

I was toying with the idea of swapping the 302 inline for a 305 V-6. They both came with a 4-speed hydromatic as factory equipment.

    Yes, I drove it home....

yes, the trans is toast I'm sure. The frame is cut on mine as well. I have another CCKW that was converted to a fire truck after it was surplussed. My plans are to take all the best parts I have and build one stock and another with some modifications. I have a '52 M211 I was thinking of moving...

    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

Cave Junction, 30 miles south of Grants Pass. I started posting a few years ago but was sick for awhile. Whole 'nother story.

Here are a few more pics, found a tank to pose the truck with along the way.

    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

Sorry vultures, I got plans for this and my others, but ya never know what tomorrow will bring. ;) EDIT: Data plate sez K-18-C Delivery date to the Signal Corp is 1940, but I think it may be a '39 cab. I would like to try to restore it as rare as they are. I saved this one from the...

    Yes, I drove it home....

Purchased a 1942 CCKW dump truck in Idaho and made an adventure out of bringing it home. Boy did that transmission sing in all but direct. I'm guessing 5 mpg because of the hills and a top speed of 40mph with a good tail wind. Destination? Cave Junction, Oregon! Not one single breakdown either...

    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

How interesting. I just pulled one of those out of the forest. All I had to do was drag it from my neighbor's land over to mine.

    M-211 change over

I would like to put an early to mid 60's GMC V-6 in, as I think I can find a factory made bell housing to mate the hydromatic to it. I also plan to mount a 750 GPM fire pump on the front bumper that drives off the front of the engine, this being my main reason for wanting an engine with a little...

    Military Fire Trucks

I collect Fire trucks, and Military trucks that have been used for fire protection. three of my trucks are military, a 1943 CCKW, a 1952 M211 (according to the dash plate) and a 1952 GMC conventional 2wd fuel tanker. All three trucks were purchased off Ebay. The '43 CCKW was most likely built...

    M-211 change over

While working for the fire dept here, I had to rebuild a burned up hydromatic in one of our surplus M135's that had been converted to a water tanker. The transmission is for all practical purposes the same as a Cadillac-Olds-Buick-Pontiac trans of the same vintage, with the exception of the...
