Well... I am hoping for just the head gasket. It was obvious when I pulled the head and saw the firing ring missing in between the cylinders. The top of pistons look real good. Hopefully, I will have the heads back next week from machine shop.
Head Gasket
Pulled heads yesterday. Luckily only 75 degrees and no humidity. Went fairly well. Head gasket was definitely blow between cylinders. Set heads to machine shop to get worked on. I am going to need to rent or borrow a tool to retorque nuts. Please pm me if willing to loan...
Not sure what these are used for. Did not see anything like this when I removed heads from motor on multifuel. Also, I was able to remove the nuts from oil cooler side. I am not sure the tool I have will be able to torque nuts. Is anyone willing to loan or rent their tool. If so, please...
Okay, here is the latest. I did a compression test today. From front to back(radiator to fire wall)
#1 350psi
#2 0psi
#3 0psi
#4 350psi
#5 350psi
#6 will build to 200psi and leak down to 100psi
looks like the heads must come off. Now to just find the time.

I did not have a crane so I had to use the poor man's method of lifting beds off of deuces to swap out. I wanted to post pictures for everyones enjoyment.
Here is a pic running down the road. Batteries were shot. Had to pull start it one time when it cut off in parking lot. Overall good recovery. Hope to do it again!
Left Forest Park around 10am. Stopped for fuel near base and near SC/NC border. Made it home around 5:30pm. No major problems. Truck did well. I will have pics on tommorrow.
Is there anyone that lives close by Atlanta I could call on in an emergency? If I evaluate truck and do not think it is road worthy I would arrange for a tow back. I just would need somewhere to store it for a couple of days.
I am going to take the advice and stick to the interstates. I am trying to convince a 69 year old to come with me. He was a wheeled vehicle mechanic in the national guard, truck driver, diesel mechanic and retired with the Fire Dept with 30 years. I am thinking he will be invaluable...
