You know we have a few newer trucks, a ford and a dodge and I still enjoy the m1009 th emost for plowing. It turns on a dime and with some ballast in the rear storage area really makes is hard to beat on the mountain. We have v-bar chains and its hard to get it stuck.
True story, I hate to wear stuff out and break stuff down but sometimes its for the right reasons. Come to think of it all the guys with Purple Hearts and just general injuries from the time in. We sacrificed our health and bodies for the greater good because it needed doing and at the time we...
Well for all the folks out there in flood areas, be safe and God bless. I spent quite some time down there after Katrina and through Rita and it was amazing the amount of devastation. Now that we have a much better ICS/NIMS systems in place were likely to see much better cohesive response...
I purchased a complete set of springs (front and rear) for my 1009 from SD Truck Springs and have the front installed so far. Huge improvement and pick the old girl up and bit and leveled her out. I wish I could tell you on the width, I don't remember honestly and am not near the truck. I...
Congrats! Great modification, the only draw back I have on my 14BFF swap is the loss of clearance, so I plan to have it shaved one of these days. But it seems there are always fun projects to complete.
Ive got to get mine tuned up, running rough and leaking oil. Been so wrapped up with other project, this needs to happen in the next few months. Thanks for all the great input guys, I will be putting it to good use soon.
I went on sd truck springs website and for about 200 bucks including shipping got a set of excellent front end springs. I went with added weight capacity as I mounted a hefty bull bar with guard and an m12000 winch as well as my plow. I wasn't disappointed at all with the ride or the stance...
Also a couple battery heater work wonders. I think that's almost more of an issue than block heaters. We run block heaters on all our vehicles though and don't regret it.
We plow with our m1009 it's amazing. Best plow vehicle on the mountain. Everyone else runs pickups with poor turning radius, reappearance and not geared as well. We 're geared to 4.10's and it's been AMAZING! I drive all over the mountains with it on stuff that makes my wife close her eyes.
I...
Ahh whatever the local auto shop had in stock. The kid behind the counter asked me if I wanted standard replacements or the "really sweet ones". I was cringing inside thinking really sweet would be very spendy, then he tells me the price for the sweet ones! Around 30 bucks per side, so I threw...
Always a blessing to have backup power source on hand. I've got a little 831 which will do the basics and cycle stuff to keep us comfy but a bigger system on an auto transfer switch would be a real blessing.
The MEP831 is a great generator at least for me. All the filters and parts are cheap and easy to find, I order from ebay or amazon frequently. My power needs are pretty light so I don't need to much power and I also like that it produces clean power at less than 6% THD (total harmonic...
