What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

My M1028 is back alive. Since the frost, it didn't start anymore. Turned out, the fuel shutoff relay needed a gentle reminder to open when voltage is applied. Sometimes it can be that simple.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Replaced the inline fuel filter my truck has, instead of the big one on the firewall. Then tried to get the air out the high pressure lines, but after cracking open the injector lines, only drops of fuel came out. I was under the impression that fuel needs to shoot out under force? Am doubting...

    Cold Weather and CUCV's

My M1028 does not like the cold. it was -12 celcius here for about a week. The 2 830 cca batteries glowed and cranked with ease. But there was no fuel coming in. Guess the (20% bio) diesel in the fuel lines was not up to the unexpected deep freeze.. Lesson for next time: Normal (7% bio) diesel...

What did you do to your trailer today.

I agree, language is a bit slippery. You know, English is not my first language, as I am a Dutchman. In our schools we get taught the British English. All US/forgeign TV shows are subtitled here, so we get a blend of both accents.

What did you do to your trailer today.

The M36A2 was sold a long time ago.. Last summer I bought and painted a small Dutch built caravan to tow behind my M1028. First raised the tow hitch, then painted. Pictures now included. 1 and 2 are the painted caravan. It is a Kip Goldstream. 3 and 4 are the raised hitch, I got some tubing and...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Finally sold my Dutch ex-army trailer and for the price I wanted (€1450) The guy wanted to pick it up on a trailer, because he had no hook on his Landrover FC101. When he came to pick it up, we noticed my trailer was too wide for his trailer, so made him the offer to bring it, if he paid for...

That is a 36 inch tire, not 33. Did find a 33x15x16.5 tire, but only for Agricultural use. think that will be a bit wide  Boggers seem a good option, now to search for a decent tread pattern.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Haven't been on this thread in a long time, about a year I guess.. Something about work... Last year when I got back from vacation, I scored 8 new GP's from an English guy for a fraction of the price (DieselRx) Back home removed and tested the old ones, they were all dead, but not swollen. Put...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

This morning replaced the old voltmeter with the new VDO one. (part number: 332-040-001-G) The new meter is a little bit smaller than the old one, but not more than 1 millimeter, so fits in the hole great. Only mods that needed to be done were: -Replace the supplied T10 24v bulb with a 12v...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Moved my glowplug button to a better place, now I can reach it without groping under the dash. Also did some towing jobs for a friend. Had a lot of fun and a lot of angry drivers thinking I went to slow. Didn't care, Had fun. After that built in a new switch and control light for my foglights...

Hmm, not something for me then, I tend to have a heavy foot when the engine is warmed up. I like the vroom sounds it makes. :driver:

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Greetings from The Netherlands. Drove the M1028 with 1000kg of trailer behind it on vacation to the UK. The starting issue was still present, but I wanted to go there.. Average fuel use was kind of high with 5.5km/litre, normally around 6.5km/litre, I blame the heavy trailer for that. No oil or...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Can't remember if I posted this, but about 1 year ago I bought an ex Dutch army trailer. When I got it, it was like new, only the night time lights were not working, rest of it worked great. Pulled the plug, labeled and cut all wires, resoldered them and put it all back together. Also modded a...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Did the manual glowplug conversion today. First, did a lot of reading in the "helpful" sticky. After connecting the light blue relay and dark blue "wait" light wires to the button and to ground, I can start the truck again. When pushing the button, the glow relay kicks in and the "wait" light...

How To - Manual Glow Plug Switch

Just an add-on on the push button conversion: If you also connect the dark blue wire to ground with the same pushbutton as the light blue wire, your "wait" light goes on also. Maybe someone already found this out, otherwise, it might be usefull.
