built a generator trailer out of a M103a3 A/C trailer

Good looking trailer Charles, just be sure to have a dedicated circuit for the beer fridge during times of hurricanes. Remember, we all know where you live if we need a generator!.

built a generator trailer out of a M103a3 A/C trailer

Duffman, That particular trailer frame would easily hold 2 generators, and probably a 200 gallon tank. The problem would/could be the weight on the landing gear/nose. The generator sits where it is to keep the trailer pretty well balanced. When it was first placed on the trailer he had it...

    TOW mule project progress

Sorry guys, hate to put a damper on this thread but, can we atleast get the nomenclature right for the TOW System components? WHat is being referred to as the T & E is acutally called a traversing unit. WHat is being referrred to as the control box is actually called an MGS or missile guidance...

    Question

I suggest going to either the 5 ton and up forum to download the manuals or the resource tab at the top of the page. Download every manual you can find regarding your "new" truck. Believe me, at one point or another they will all come in handy.

    fuels

There was an article in either Army Motors or Supply Line a few months back about the issue of ULSDF, the basic bottom line of the article was that it was perfectly fine to run in older MV's. That being said, a few of the guys at the musuem do as stated above and do add additives when they fill...

    m1008 diesel to gas conversion

I've used my M1031 maintenance/contact truck (fully loaded) to pull my M-548 around at the museum when I had to pul the power plant to change the starter. To give you an idea, the 548 is my avatar and she weighs around 15-16,000 pounds. I can't think of any reason why to change from the 6.2...

    New paint

The paint job looks very good. It looks like the brown is the wrong color though. The ones I drove in the MArine Corps did have a full tri-color carc camo pattern.

    How Risky Is This?

Two words EXTREMELY RISKY. On top of all of the reasons listed above I took a vehicle on day to Fort Worth to pick up some items. I had driven this vehicle many miles during Hurrucane Katrina while in orange and West Orange Texas. I had no problems with the truck while there nor after...

    M-172A1 Trailer Ramps

PCTRANS, The reason I had stated using air over hydraulic was I was thinknig of using the tractor's air suply for the ramps. Thought about tapping into the emergency air supply and placing the control valves on the gooseneck. You do have a good idea with using electric over hydraulic though.

    M-172A1 Trailer Ramps

Well Jr, I'm not getting any younger. Jus tlooknig for some ideas. I do like the pictures that M1075 posted. I think we might be able to do something like that pretty easy.

    M-172A1 Trailer Ramps

Does anyone have any idea how to permanately (spelling?) mount the ramps on the back of an M-172 trailer? I would like to attach them then use air over hydrailics to raise and lower the ramps. I realize that I'd have to relocate the tail lights from the back of the trailer but was thinking of...
