    Hire a Huey?

RE: Taking passengers for rides in a Huey The ARMY still has a few in service, but those are just the General's "personal bird". The Marines still fly the rotors off them, and now they convert them into the super-hueys...not sure , but I think they get upgraded engine, avionics, and a new four...

    m1008 fuel tank help

So I pulled off the fuel filter and blew out the lines, hoping to dislodge anything that might be blocking the lines...But I wasn't thinking. What I think I did is foul up the fuel pump, so after a quick trip to Autozone, and $20, I installed a new fuel pump. I cranked, and cranked, and...

    might be selling 1008

I listed it on EBAY last night under the military vehicles section. Let me know if anyone is interrested.

    m1008 fuel tank help

I got the new tank installed the other day...a few words of advice: 1st ...don't be such a cheap scate, pay someone else to do it for you. 2nd start off by buying one foot each of 1/4, 5/16, and 3/8 fuel line to replace the old dried out ones that connect the fuel sending unit to the hard...

    m1008 fuel tank help

Well, I stopped at the local Discount Auto Parts Store, and they ordered me up a brand new 20 gal replacement tank for the acceptable sum of $106 (out the door). They said that it will be here this afternoon! Once in a while they get it right!

    m1008 fuel tank help

I checked out JC Whitney online, and found a bunch of options. They carry both metal and plastic replacement fuel tanks, in the original 16 gal configuration, or the larger 20 gal. The 16 and 20 gal metal tanks were $109 plus shipping, and the poly tanks were $140 plus shipping. I am going to...

    m1008 fuel tank help

I realized the other day that the fuel tank on my M1008 is leaking...pretty bad. I put an empty catch pan under it this morning at about 10:00, and checked it when we got home at 5:30 and there was about a gallon in it, but the dripping had all but stoped (I think the tank ran empty). There is...

Receiving a Title from GL in Florida?

93 days!!!! That is how long it took GL to issue me my title for a M1008 I purchased from an auction in Pensacola. I was unaware of the "Florida title" issue, and thought I would get a SF97 form. 60 days after I initially applied for the form, it finally came...or so I thought...what I got...

    might be selling 1008

I guess I'd ask $4000, but I'm open to offers. I may still try and run a set of 36's on it if I can find a set locally. I looked at buying and shipping a set, but the shipping is pretty expensive (my wife even works for a freight forwarding company, so I can get the shipping for cost). And...

    might be selling 1008

Florida truck, fresh from Gl auction. Just received title. New belts, hoses, fuel filter, oil change, tranny fluid, B&M Transpak shift kit, and B&M cast aluminum deep sump tranny pan. I am getting clost to finishing the WVO conversion for the truck, 30 gal custom aluminum aux fuel tank, and...

    Shift Kit in M1008?

Well, it's done! Last night I pulled the truck into the garage, and dropped the pan. everything looked good inside, nice and clean, no gunk. The B&M Transpak was fairly easy to install, and the directions were pretty straight forward. The only problem I ran into was that I didn't have a pair...

beware of Florida GL policy change

I still have all the stuff that came with the truck. I actually put it all for sale in the classifieds section, and have had a couple of people mildly interrested, but no real offers. Let me know what you might be interrested in.

beware of Florida GL policy change

What kind of mods have you done? This is going to be my daily driver/toy, I am always looking to modify. I'm putting a deep sump tranny pan and a shift kit in next week. I also have been working on an aux fuel tank and heat exchanger to run wvo, as soon as I am finished, I'll post an article...

    Shift Kit in M1008?

I was just wondering if anyone has installed a shift kit in their CUCV, and if so what brand, was it easy, and how do you like it? I ordered a B&M deep sump transmission pan for my truck last night, and was thinking that if I am taking the pan off, I might as well put in a shift improver kit...

beware of Florida GL policy change

Well, I sent in all of the paperwork for the sf97 form on October 28. On December 28 (two months and many phonecalls later) I received an envelope from GL. I got pretty excited, because I had been waiting to put my truck on the road, but my excitement quickly turned to disgust and anger. The3...
