    taboo to talk

By that standard, all CUCV's are not compliance as well. Why are they on the road? My M1009 had an EPA exemption on the engine - which is *non-compliance*, no? While the CUCV is a civilian vehicle pressed into service with the military, and the body *may* meet the DOT standards, the engines...

    6.2 Diesel / 6.5 Diesel Engine

Good engine or no? My M998 is dated 08/1992 with this engine in it. Runs fine. 23,XXX miles. And the whole truck looks like it.

    Waters intrusion into passenger insulation?

Anyone else have water intrusion into to the passenger front left side insulation? It's like a water bladder at the bottom. I removed it, turned it upside down and found the only holes were at the top. Bizarro.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Take that hill mentality! War face! Hard to believe it was in the back of the machine just a couple hours before returning from Fastenal, but I hate tripping over projects to be done...

    DIY Tire Balancing

Yessir, they work great. It's like a completely foreign feel in a machine with 37 inch mud terrains....I do recommend them, but be aware that they are not able to compensate for a tire that's out of round. Mine are all new and round (check the runout). I had an Unimog with 39's that I wish I...

Add a heater to M998 HMMWV

Anyone adapted a big-truck fuel heater to their HMMWV? I'm about to get creative. The right is for the larger truck and the left was a heater I purchase many years ago - both are new. I know that the left side heater will do the job easily but the kit came with the right side heater...

where is the wired #568 connected to on 200amp generator?

I had the same sinking feeling when I first started my HMMWV after installing the 200 amp alternator, and leaving 568 disconnected with the empty connector installed (per the directions). With a VOM connected to the batteries, the voltage did not increase at all. I turned it off, reviewed all...

Just finished installing the 200 amp alternator upgrade. I had no idea there were so many sharp edges on an HMMWV.

    DIY Tire Balancing

I have to wonder why commercial trucking companies don't use bee BB's or antifreeze in their tires. While it might be a cost-cutting measure with similar results, the industry appears to have chosen a different option.

    M998 Tailgate Spare tire carrier

Bye bye departure angle with that low hanging spare. Agreed it looks flimsy.
