Have a hose shop make up replacements out of Aeroquip #666 hose or equivalent (Teflon inner with a 300 series stainless outer braid). If you want it to match the rest of the hoses put black shrink sleeve over it before you install it.
Is it possible that the clean oil that is being discharged back into the barrel is disturbing the crud on the bottom? It might be worth while to discharge the clean oil it to a second heated barrel and then use that one for the polishing operation.
Although not likely but it could be the needle bearings in one of the planetaries in the transmission. Sounds kind of like a bird caught under the floor boards but is usually intermittent.

Good luck.
A few years ago I caught a fella at around 3am walking up to my 64 f100 with a piece of garden hose and five gallon bucket. Pretty sure he was workin on a second round out of my tank that morning. I mad sure he understood that if I ever saw him again that the cops would be the least of his...
It's easy to miss a small crack. Pull all of the valves and have the head magnafluxed. As an alternative if you machine shop doesn't have the magnaflux setup you could use Dye Penetrant instead. Don't forget to check in the ports and around the valve seats for cracks.
Could it be possible...
