A friend wants my help getting this puppy going, but it has sat for a very long time. Looks very rough, but only 280+/- hours on the clock. I cannot find any id plate and I suspect that it was painted over many years ago and I cannot find it. I would guess it to be a 15-25 kw unit. The fuel tank...
I agree, but good ear plugs work for my 308 and pretty much anything else except the 50, so they should work for a deuce. either way, we attract enough attention with our toys, why add to their arsenal. Roadsides are never a good place for a enlightening exchange with a boy in blue...
I used to think that was for sissies... I know better now!
Thanks for the tip. I will stash a few disposable ear plugs in the glove box. Here in Florida the boys in blue don't like drivers wearing ear muffs... Be safe
But we could help hose them off... but... That is one .... LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG... drive in a deuce fire truck... Just did 200 miles... Wow... I have ... what? Was that you ma?... can't hear a thing... sorry... digressed a bit... my hearing is not the same since that ride.:???:
And your point is? michaeljj was trying to be helpful. Me? I was just replying in kind thanking him for the advise and showing off what was done. anyway, records were meant to be broken!

100% in agreement... as I told a friend when I wanted a crash fire truck hemmet... (spare tire was on the rear deck, about 10 feet off the ground) and he said... you are going to have a heck of a time changing a flat... to which I replied... those are "rich man problems" meaning I had succeeded...
Been thinking that I need one of those MK48's with a trailer unit. Been doing some research, but cannot find the manual for the units. Some of the GL info says that GL personnel will not re-attach the trailer to the cab. I have no clue, and may be biting off more than I can chew, but I can be...
I just found out about the existence of 100 ampers. I should have known, but I was doing the math and added up all my "consumers" and they do not add up to 50 amps... so I should be OK... I guess... 4 50 (200W) W spots, 2 50(100W) watt wig wags, 2 50(100W) watt high beams, 2 50(100W) watt bulbs...
My deuce Fire truck would start well and showed borderline green, but during a night response to a fire with all of the spots running as well as the emergency lights, even at a high idle, they got dimmer and dimmer until my battery voltage was under 18 Volts. Truck kept running... gotta love a...
Check the voltage coming out of it. If it isn't 27+ you are in trouble. I just went through that with my deuce fire truck. She would start well and showed borderline green, but during a night response to a fire with all of the spots running as well as the emergency lights, even at a high...
Here is a pic of donkdonk wheel w a michelin 395 tire outer rim black inner red (match fire truck) and how they look on the truck while standing still or moving.
Zak did a very nice job on the rims, and with the installed beadlocks and these tires, the truck seems to be willing to go...
I know members of tis group are resourceful and very capable... It is worth a shot... I bought 2 magnetic rollers for a conveyor belt, size is approx. 5' long, 22 inches diameter and weighing approximately 500-700 pounds. Items are on the ground at the back of the farm, but the property owner...
she does 55-57mph now with current tires... if I go to 14.5's or 16's I should be doing 60-65... plenty fast for such an old heavy truck with the current brakes... I planned on tweaking the fuel a bit...
yep... exactly what I have in mind... an air conditioned 5 passenger 818 with insulation and a stereo... maybe a "small" flatbed with a toolbox for luggage... twin stacks like davep's ... still 6wd, still sporting a winch, maybe the rear bench seat will fold down into a bed or a cot... tomorrow...
I have a very nice 818 that does not get as much use as it should because quarters are cramped. I am in Miami, FL and it gets HOT here. In mind I have a couple of projects...
1. Singling out the truck... already have the rims, beadlocks, and tires...
2. Putting in an a/c unit (have a brand...
