I replaced all my wood with white oak last summer.... didn't think about taking pictures at the time.... now I wish I had.
When I took the old wood off, I just ground all the bolts off. Interestingly, for my troop seats, all the lumber was black walnut....
My transfer case had been sitting for at LEAST 10 years and was 1/2 full of water... I drained the water and filled with oil.... Runs smooth as ice and NO leaks so far... ;-)
It's not like I had a lot of choice.... Truck was broken and had to be repaired so I can drive it..... Besides, I'd rather spend $ on parts, fuel, etc than paying a mechanic (if I could even find one to do it) boatloads of $ to do it....
It was hard work but using a heavy duty transmission jack below and a chain drop and 2 ton come along from above, as well as taking the bed off made it doable by myself. Just had to take my time and it wasn't TOO bad... Just can't wait to build a pole barn so I can have a real shop work area...

I have the bed off it right now to do a transfer case swap and now I'm thinking it might be a good idea to replace some/all of the brake lines??? They look fine with no rust problem on the outside, but they are another area to eliminate while access is easy...:cookoo:
Take offs came from one of my other deuces... swapped them out and the other truck doesn't have any problems (with the old one or the one out of my main Deuce)...
