Pretty good description of what happened to me some time ago... After getting it apart and back together again with a new clip, it's worked fine! I still have not replaced the little panel... makes a nice cubby to put my oil check rag and flashlight...[thumbzup]
I presume you went with Red Oak due to cost? Remember, you get what you pay for 'most' of the time... the market see saws every few years as far as demand (i e cost) for the Red and the White Oak, depending on what the Chinese are buying...
