    Deuce engines

Hercules, Continental, and White are all identical within their specific subtypes. The only difference is the data tags. As far as I know, quality is good on all of them.

    1951 M48 Tractor recovery

I think, although I am not sure, that the old 5 ton tractor spare tire carrier is very similar in design. While not absolutely correct, Shirley's has a bunch of them. I will try to help out with the rare tractor parts, I may be able to get my hands on some early M275A1 parts.

    Deuce tire/rim break down.

When Clinto gets ready to do some tires, I guess I will go help him. I loaned him my slide hammer bead breaker and lock ring tool. I've done my share of them over the years, I'll just have to go over and "supervise".

    $4 a gallon!

Gas is $3.09 at the Racetrack station in Carrollton today, diesel was $3.69. Diesel is $3.52 at a big truck stop in Villa Rica Ga. At the last GMVPA meeting Clinto and I were discussing gasser 5 tons. Clinto said he would have to put in a multi for the fuel economy. Heck, a 5 ton prolly gets...

Who here runs their deuce on JP-8/Contaminated jet fuel?

Laquer thinner has xylene, toluene, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl amyl ketone, etc. in the mix. The stuff is ferociously aggressive to most natural, and many synthetic rubber materials. It will eat up polyethylene, nitrile, etc. Only PTFE is completely resistant, EPDM fairly resistant to the...

    1951 M48 Tractor recovery

He let you have the truck for scrap price. Around here scrap is bringing $65 a thousand, you have about 10500 pounds there I would think. Not a bad deal.

Making oil.... where to start looking?

Mine is making oil too. I already bypassed the FDC, didn't help. It runs strong and smooth, so I am leaning towards the hydraulic head o-rings myself.

    bolt on power steering kit

The hydraulic systems I am talking about used the stock steering gear. Basically, it is like the Air-O-Matic but uses hydraulic pressure rather than air pressure. I would imagine they would give a little more positive steering response, since air will compress and oild does not.

    Need y'all engine gurus help

Check your in tank pump. If you didn't get fuel out when you opened the filter, it is not pumping. My in tank pump was running just fine, but the hose had popped off the pump. So, I was pulling fuel with the IP fuel pump rather than pushing fuel to the IP. Darn thing ran out of fuel with over...

    Deuce winch overhaul/function??

As far as fixing wallowed out holes in winch input shafts..... Find a piece of steel brake line tubing that will accept the winch shear pin. Now, drill the hole out in the winch shaft to a couple of thousandths less than the tubing. Put the tubing in the freezer for a couple of hours. Heat up...

Tow bar a civvy Pick Up

I made a towbar up that bolted to the tie down loops on my 93 Nissan PU. When I picked up my deuce, I towed my Nissan back. It is a manual tranny, so I just left it in neutral and left the engine running (too lazy to pull the driveshaft in the rain) to keep the tranny oiling. Worked just fine. I...

    bolt on power steering kit

Sounds like what we ran on a lot of front end loaders. The drag link had a control valve on one end, and the cylinder was attached to the frame and the drag link. The only issue I had was that the hyd. hoses from the control valve to the cylinder were easy to damage if you backed into a stump...

    De-splined drive flanges

In the UK axle shafts are often called half shafts. You are correct Tom. I'll get your water pump in the mail Saturday, as soon as I get it pulled off!

    air compressor pulley tool

RE: Re: RE: Re: air compressor pulley tool Don't know, never tried it. The .dxf would not be of much use unless you have AutoCAD or an AutoCAD viewer on your PC. I'll give it a shot on Monday.

    Fuel milage w 465-1d M35A2 W/W

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Fuel milage w 465-1d M35A2 W/W My bro in law has a Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4 with the V-10 and automatic. He gets 7mpg, loaded or empty. He gave me a hard time when I got my deuce, until he found out that I was getting 10mpg. Really made him mad when I did that running 1/2...

    air compressor pulley tool

RE: Re: RE: Re: air compressor pulley tool If anyone wants it, I will e-mail them the .dxf file of the wrench. This will allow you to plug into a laser or plasma cutters nesting software and burn some out. I can also make a .pdf file that you can print out on any computer that has Adobe Reader...

motor wizard needed! lds ldt questions

Most LDT's have been upgraded to the 2 hole injectors, as far as I have ever seen. An old Army buddy told me they used to latch on to every LDS engine they could. They would strip off the IP, turbo, and a few other internal parts that he was not sure of and swap them into LDT engines. He said...
