He reported back that the M88 has 2 injector pumps, and the rate is extremely difficult to get to, even with the pack out. The Chief of his unit was telling him to adjust the fuel pressure, and aneroid, then see how it does. Afterall, it's 750hp already. For those out there that have had one, or...
Got a buddy that's heading overseas soon. He's getting an M88 like the one he has here. I helped him find the -34 manual on tpub online, but there's no fuel rate info. Anyone have some helpful hints & trix to do to it? I havent even seen an M88 since I got out in 1994. I'd say having the pack...
Considering it's probably the most loved med. duty truck engine out there, I dont see how it doesnt get 2 thumbs up.
What does the LDS465 weigh? The DT466 cant be all that much heavier
The 6BT/5.9 can take whatever exhaust brake you throw at it. It would be of benefit to replace the exhaust valves with the stiffer 60lb. ones, unless you already did all of them for the gov. spring kit.
Another good alternative for repower that hasn't been mentioned is a DT466 from a Kornbinder...
Man, you took out a good perkins to put in a small chebby? Was it a 6.354? Those have about the same potential as a 12valve cummins does. Sorry, had to pick on you a little.
The head gaskets blow out when water enters the combustion chamber. Found out the hard way during "sargeant's time". The lesson of that week was recovery using HEMMTTs. There was about a foot of exhaust pipe sticking out of the water. :) I had the pleasure of changing the head gaskets...
Is it really that much of a difference? A 466 weighs in at 1400 pounds. I have pictures of a DTA466 in an 89 F350. To me it would be worth every effort to put one in, not like it's my favorite diesel engine or anything  . The power potential is insane, just as a 12 valve Cummins 5.9 is...
A DT466(IH) can be made to spin higher than a powerstroke, and about as easy to do as a 12 valve cummins(6BT). Plus, most of the injector pump mods will be the same for a 466 and a Cummins 6BT; such as, fuel plate, governer springs, and (laser cut)delivery valves. As far as bigger engines go...

It was actually the other thread, page 6 had the pictures. I'm in awe that it even fits!
Cummins swaps have gotten pretty wide spread in the las few years. I saw a picture(a couple days ago) of a 12 valve Cummins from a Dodge swapped into an S-10, of all things.
You got it, the famed HT3B and BHT3B. Mine has only been to 4200 a few times, I really shift at 35-3800. Most drag racers acually shift around 3k. 3k feels like it should come that way from the factory, it makes them SO much more driveable! If the compr. is lower, the 370's may burn even...

The 6BT has all the power i need after i turned it up. I had a set of 370's and some wicked cool stuff but i chickend out and just slid the fuel plate and pinched of the waste gate and got 35 PSI boost. I have a twin turbo set up in the works...mainly because i found that...
