Send me your injectors or some cores. I only have bodies for a Ppump. I rebuild em, put on the new nozzles, and balance the pop pressure.
On a side note; I also have a junk MW pump coming my way. I'll be working with a buddy I grew up with that's a precision machinist. We are going to see if we...
I got the new nozzles in. They are a 5X.0157". I also got some that are 5X.015, where the stock ones are a 4X.011". They have the better spray angle to keep the spray off the cylinder walls. I think I'll be selling the first set in the next week or 2, so we will see the results pretty soon. He's...
The MW can make that kind of power, just not as easily as the Ppump. The MW would need the fuel nuts removed, and run the 480 injectors. The Ppump with the 420s will burn cleaner(less haze).
Swapping to a Ppump will throw all these power numbers off by a lot. They would be the actual 300,420, and 480hp(with supporting air mods). Huge gains in power to snap every drive train component.
Honing the stock nozzle is not that great because of the 4 hole spray. They just don't atomize...
I've been digging in to different nozzles, and injector settings(pop pressures) to get these engines to perform and keep EGT down. The ones I have found are not a direct bolt in. All the good ones went in the Ppump equipped engines. The solution lately has been to buy a whole injector, and swap...
Ok. I'll add it to a new thread. I'm coming up with a few different sizes to use. The first one is a stock replacement that I'm working on the final details with DWC. He agreed to be the guinea pig.
A 50 will just be slow to spool up, unless you change injectors too. The old 4 hole spray pattern in these are terrible, and the biggest reason for high EGT(even without making fuel adjustments).
If you're looking for some better power, check in to a Mechanical DT466. Ideally a 95-97. They are happy to spin higher than a 3116, plus you can make double the 3116's power pretty easily(turbo, pump, and injectors). Then, the problem becomes busted driveline parts. I would mention a Cummins...
Not having the injectors synchronized will give a power loss, and is part of a 3116 tune up. If you have the tools & patience, you can do it yourself. Most just let a Cat dealer do it. They can also adjust the fuel a smidge when they're in there. Some free power cant hurt. Cat dealers usually...
The only other turbo that is close in performance(that screams a whistle), is a Garrett from a 2003 6 litre powerstroke. If your engine is all stock, up to the basic fuel adjustments, it should be just fine. The exhaust side has 10 vanes on the 03, as opposed to 13 on the 04 & up. Basically, you...
There are SAE adapters to go up or down a size. You would have to find an SAE#2 to a #1. There's a place in Phoenix that makes em still.
I have worked with a couple different guys on different builds. One (play toy)was going to run the 480hp injectors, 3k gov springs, and an HX55, and see how...
There's a great youtube video on how to sync the injectors. It's not difficult, just very tedious. Plus, as said already, the tools are quite spendy. I'm working with a couple guys and their 1078s, and getting the 350hp marine injectors in em. No towing involved, just a play truck. The fuel rate...
Found some HD valve springs :

To add to the bigger benefits of hiking up timing... #1, better mpg. #2, lower EGT. #3, less torque on the low end is less strain on the trans and ujoints. The trans will survive longer with more rpm.
It can easily make 500+hp, but it gets spendy pretty fast. Just doing the free mods will get the EGT up pretty high. Plan on getting a big turbo or twins & intercooler if you want more than the free mods. It's a safe bet to O-ring it, but they generally hold up pretty well at the more modest...
The Dodges have a 12mm pump, and these only went up to a 10mm, so the power potential isnt quite as high with the free mods. With the tinkering, it'll gain roughly 40hp/100tq.
