    ...Track on a trailer...

49CFR393.102 contains a passage that you'll want to consider. If you're moving a cargo that they specifically regulate (such as cars...) then they are very, very specific as to the tie down ratings, locations, number, where to put them, what color they need to be, and which hand to use to wipe...

    no brake lights.....now no brakes

Indeed, the switch is a pressure activated switch. It doesn't care if you want to stop, it only cares if the brake system was capable of building and maintaining an adequate pressure. There are two styles of switches. The older style should have been upgraded, but it's out there. It is a...

    Brake Hoses

The rubber hoses move during normal use, that's why they use them. Metal line is out. Braided stainless is just a rubber line with a stainless woven "cloth" over it. They wear out just as well as "regular' rubber, only you can't see it until after it blows up. Their claim to fame is mostly...

    Deuce lurches with clutch engagement

I was thinking one or the other of the parking brake shoes not fully releasing. I'd go along with a sprag issue too.

Fuel Filter upgrade...and now it wont start :-D

If the in-tank pump is working, (nor running, but "working") then no priming, purging, no messing around with anything... Drain the original filters, replace them with what you're replacing them with (unfilled, zero cross contamination, zero mess, zero of the "balancing a filled filter without...

    The LDT-465 that ran backwards

Starter, cam, distributor advance weights and vacuum retard assembly, oil pump drive, and a timing mark indicator with the BTDC marks going the opposite way... Done. Of course there are probably more application specific changes, but that's it for rotation changes. All the accessories (water...

remove PTO, and replace with WHAT?

I don't have a manual either, but if it's six bolts (two on each side, one top and one bottom) then it's probably a standard SAE six bolt pad. If so, they're really nothing special. Center to center, top bolt to bottom bolt is roughly five and a half inches, and side to side is roughly four and...

Known fuels for the multi-fuel deuce

I'm not who you were asking, but until you get a reply here's a little food for thought, mixed with a little opinion on the subject... First, the Multi-Fuel engine is NOT a diesel engine. Very much similar, based on one in fact, but not the same. Your first satisfaction will come from digging...

    The LDT-465 that ran backwards

Remember the old two stroke golf carts? Reverse was no more than an electric switch that caused the starter to run backwards when you stepped on the gas pedal.

    The LDT-465 that ran backwards

They won't run well, the timing is off when they run backwards. What should be BTDC is now ATDC and vice versa. Note the references to smoke in all these accounts. Even multi's don't smoke that much at an idle, and I don't see any accounts of applying throttle. But it doesn't take much to...

    Boys, Check your nuts!!!

Axle gaskets should go on dry (or with grease if you can't hold it in place, but they're pretty easy to hold in place...), but with NO silicone sealer on them. Alternately, it is quite acceptable to eliminate the gasket in lieu of silicone sealant, but NEVER use both. You will have repeat...

    manifold heater vs. ether start

If ether must be manually applied to something, my preference is to "shoot" the air filter for half a second to one second. (Some of the new "safer" cans spray a lot less than they used to...) It really does not take much, only a "whiff". The idea is that you need only enough ether to "help"...

    Boys, Check your nuts!!!

That tool I believe you will find is a ball joint press. (If not, then I'm going to recommend a ball joint press). It will pull and press studs, but make sure you get the adapter kit with it. You may have to improvise an adapter anyhow. I know the OP said the lug studs are all being...

more brake questions, but a different take

With 13000 pounds behind you the truck is supposed to be slow. The braking distance should NOT be significantly increased by adding a trailer. If it is, investigate the trailer brakes. They are not working, they are working but not well, or they are not being adequately supplied by the truck.

    Air stop light switch

I believe this is the reason for the update, not reliability but failure. The same failure on the fluid port leaks brake fluid and drops the pedal to the floor. This one makes a "fix me" noise, but the brakes still work.

    manifold heater vs. ether start

Ether is more effective. Both are trouble prone, the flame heater when it doesn't work and the ether when it does work. Obviously either system is worth having if it works and you need it, but given how easily these trucks start, I can't say I'm going to spend much time or effort getting mine...

    deuce fuel

That's a lot of adjustment... Somebody official (with the safety wire seal crimper) had mine set high, probably making up for the fuel injectors that now perform as they should. I turned mine DOWN two flats to get the boost back down to original spec's Two flats makes a real and genuine (but...

    W/W bumper extensions for a W/OW truck?

There's always an exception to every rule, yours could be it mckeeranger, but I think those are just an earlier version (or a different brand?) of the brackets. Many trucks, especially older ones have them. To relate that back to the original post, if there's going to be fabrication involved...

    air system issues

EVERYTHING runs from the tanks, except the compressor which runs to the tanks. Your brakes work the same as the wipers also. As mentioned, condensation is normal. That is why the tanks are equipped with drains. You are describing a bit of oil in there as well. Not terribly abnormal in...

Installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge

For the oil level, be sure the checking procedure is correct. Within a minute of stopping the engine should be the plan, after it's sat, it should be somewhere around the K in the work "CHECK" I believe, but it should be high. This will vary depending on if you have regular filters, converted...
