    Rear Wheel Hub Temps?

I've never seen a published spec, but if you can get your hands on an infared gun, a commonly accepted practice in the repair business is to look for 50 degrees above ambient or less. More than that is an issue. Hubs will feel warm after a bit. Barring any abusive use of the brakes, a...

    Brake Air tank oil puke

If it's more oil than normal, first check is the compressor inlet (?Filter?Screen?little round bug catcher thing?) mounted to the cylinder head of the compressor. Even a tight compressor will pass a little oil if there's too much inlet restriction.

    No Retainer?!?!

That seal probably has a specific installation tool listed for it. It's not anything special, so I don't think it'd be a Hercules tool, I'd imagine it would be from the seal manufacturer. Essentially it will be a cup shaped device with an outer diameter that just fits inside the hole in the...

    Air shift switch leaking oil??

If it's engine oil it came through the air tanks... How'd they look when they were drained. They needn't be literally "full" of oil, but upon draining there would be no choice but to be ample evidence of such. My bet is on transfer case oil. How's the vent working?

Broke bolt on coolant passages on top of engine... help

Can you get a second pair of hands??? If the bolt has "wiggle room" there it threads in, but is stuck in the loose water manifold... Lift up the manifold and hold it that way. Have soldier B use a punch and small hammer to GENTLY and repeatedly tap down on the bolt. That'll usually get...

Ferrule sizes for copper air line that connect to airpack

I'm not following... The copper tube should be nominal OD dimension with a very small tolerance. In smaller sizes they are common in 1/16 inch sizes, so your open end wrench set makes a great size gauge for the tubing. When you put the two together, you have slop where? What piece is 0.044...

to those of you who have changed tires

I have to respectfully disagree. If you feel that airing the tires up is dangerous then perhaps something in the approach needs to be addressed. If you feel you are in danger, you are skipping a step somewhere. Without a doubt, the safety factor is NOT built into the process of changing tires...

    Exhaust heat shield Identification

I dunno, but it almost looks like it would be a good fit and slide right over the smaller aftermarket mufflers that the the guys are installing over in the Deuce Modifications fourm...

    Missing a plug here?

Yeah, mine gets stored in the drain hole, because time has welded it there. I ran a quarter inch hole up inside the drive square though, so the oil doesn't get too deep. I just didn't know if the bell housing it's self had some significance, maybe to an exact revision of the motor it was...

    deuce under dash power source

If I were solving this- I'd keep it very simple. Come from the battery with a new wire. Right at the battery, install a very large fuse. 30 amps is huge in 24 volt, perhaps a 20 would be plenty of overkill. This will pop in the event of a dead short, but will not protect any devices. Route...

    Missing a plug here?

This is the first bell housing I've seen pictured here that looks like mine, without the storage hole next to the drain hole. Is there any signifigance to that, or is it just a thing...

    radiator question

When the radiator "spewed", I'm not yet convinced if it is normal (could be) or if it's too much heat (could be this also), but the fact that ti made it to the compressor and fender tell me that the overflow tube needs to have the rust, bugs, and other restrictions roto-rootered out of it. You...

    Military or Civi wrecker?

Not knowing these wreckers specifically, just looking at the truck and aproximating a couple of things, 5000 pounds looks like a pretty reasonable "pick" for that truck. That is, the dead weight lifted if you were going to tag another vehicle behind with the front wheels raised. Those old booms...

    radiator question

Twenty minutes? With a five minute warmup and the silly pedal boarded for twenty minutes, the thermostat is probably just barely starting to "crack"... Slow flow (barely cracked thermostat) absolutely should make the top tank much warmer than the lower tank. Overflow from the overflow tube is...

    Navistar 7.3 vs LD465(all versions)

Instead of a 7.3, I would think the electronic adaptations would be easier if you could get your hands on a T444E out of an international 4700 from late 98 or up, with the ECM mounted on the engine. Other than that, it's doable either way. If it comes out of a Ford, make sure it is (or is...

    Transmission plug magnet?

You'd be surprised... Stuff finds it's way to the bottom and doesn't really move. But if you want a magnet, you can stick a good sized one right on the outside of the case near the drain plug.

    Front Axle Input Shaft Bearings?

I'd like to clarify/expand on the OP's question. I have a similar issue that needs attention. I've perused the TM (two versions) and I'm fairly comfortable with what is in there, but because it's listed only as a unit repair, there is no reference to servicing only the pinion bearings...

Pics or Specs of fabricated Head Wrench

You have seen the original to know what it looks like, right? To build one, the big design parameter you need in mind is it needs to act like a straight extension. That is, the end that will recieve the torque wrench must be in a straight line and centered directly above the bolt head, thus...

Hydraulic Oil, can you use it is fuel?

There are some fire retardant ones out there, I'd avoid that. But if it's plain old AW-32 then it works quite well. If it's out of a mobile application make sure you filter it first. But yeah, good stuff...
