    Shooting 383 Gilliespie paint...

You need more solvent if you are shooting with a siphon gun. A pressure gun will put the paint on faster at a heavier viscosity, and helps heep your "wet edge".

The reason old welders drink milk is to prevent "welders fever". Welders fever is exposure to burning zinc when welding galvanized. As far as I have been told, the zinc fumes strip the calcium from your system, causing your nerves to fire erratically. I had it one time, welding a galvanized...

    Troop seats

I have a spare set, some kind of softwood. The headboard assy. is oak. The hardware is great, but there are a couple of bad boards. These are for an M35A2, they were on mine when I upgraded to oak w/ fiberglass headboard. If you are interested, PM me. We might work a trade for some of your M105...

    Deuce Tranny, Things I've Learned

RE: Deuce Tranny, Things I Sounds like we had fun! I know I used to remove the PTO before R&R ing the trannies in dumptrucks. Seemed like the PTO always blocked access to some bolts, and made the tranny want to hang lopsided, making it hard to get it in and out of the truck. I have already...

Funny noise in 4th and 5th Gear

RE: clutch Is the clutch slipping? the pedal height may be good because the clutch pedal has been adjusted. If the disk is too thin, the clutch will slip under load. This is usually noticed when climbing a hill in 4th or 5th gear. The engine will start running faster and faster, while the truck...

    horn stuck in traffic

Wow! 11 Hp motor! That is a heck of a horn! Wire that up to your burglar alarm and you could blast him right off the property! Neat old piece of American history, from the grim days of the cold war.

    M45 Compressor truck

I have a cab that is much better than yours. If I had realized who you were when you were coming this way, I could have gotten it off for you. I live about 3 hours from Joel on the West side of Atlanta. If you make another trip, I can hook you up with a cab. I would seriously consider replacing...

    Abusing the Equipment

Pine trees have a tap root like a carrot. They are surprisingly hard to get loose. Unless the ground is really saturated, pines generally break off in Ga. storms rather than come out of the ground.

Nect time you weld CARC painted metal, take a flap wheel and clean the paint off for 3" all around the weld. Wear a respirator when you do it. The smoke from welding CARC is pretty toxic. You and I are old enough not to worry too much about it, but your son might want to have kids someday...

Funny noise in 4th and 5th Gear

How hiogh is your clutch pedal? You may have an adjustment issue, in which case it needs fixing ASAP. You may have a clutch going out, or a bad universal joint. A bad u-joint can give you that vibration that starts at a certain speed, then gets worse as you go faster. Probably be after the...

    Cat 3116

Richards and Associates ran deuces and 5 tons for years in Ga. They wore out the original gas engines, then started experimenting. They put in big Ford V8 industrial engines with automatics, said they did no better than the OA331's. They made up quite a few with 6V53's. They set the engine a...
