Took a course in generation about 3 years ago. It was given by onan. The main thing to remember is that when things that run by a motor, when it starts it can take 3-4 times the running watts to start for the first 1-3 seconds. IF the power is not there it does get ugly and dark.
My $0.05...
I have added LPG to mine. BUT !!!!! I run it thought a small regulator and does not get a big blast. From 1900 it comes on strong and falls off at 2500. I am only feeding it a little to take off the curse of the 5 speed. I do not have the extra $$ for motors. If you do use your head, not your foot.
What I found out was that on my 5ton the seal had to be .500 th. long.
I used a set of calipers. From the most out side egde ( where the seal hits the bearing race ) to the other end ( where the rubber is molded around the steel part ) needs to be .500 th. If it is longer it gets hot. If shorter...
I had this same problem with my 5 ton. I turns out that the outer seals was to big. This made it rub and get hot. I checked the 6 seals I had and not 2 where the same size. ( go finger the QC guys ) well anyway I put the seal on my lath and took a few thousands off and went for a ride. The 3rd...
Would like to put one in my wrecker, But it does not turn now when I get in the slippery stuff. I have also learned from experience that you do NOT put something like that in the front unless you can disengage it some how.
Some people are just in love with there stuff. ( junk ) If they can not sell it for what they want then no one will ever have it. What a waste. Ran into many people like this. The yard is FULL of stuff but nothing is for sale.
Hi there and welcome.
I am not sure about the multi's , But I do know that there is a difference between a turbo motor and a non turbo motor. On some of the cams, heads and the pistons are all set up different. Bigger injectors.
Just my $0.05 worth.
WOW ouch. Had a 6V71 run a way once. POS. Took my tool tray emptied it and slapped it on the intake. Got the tray off by prying it with a screw driver. The guy that owned the truck said it started doing this a lot after he tuned it up. It was a ruff $100 to make. Glad you saved it. Fast...
Some place on the old sight, there is a thread about this too. I think there is even part numbers or a kit number for Memphis. ( of course I can not find it now )
From what I understand ( I also have been known to be wrong ) If you get it for 20K, To make it air worthy and get a N number it will be almost 250K. This stuff is not cheep to keep. Besides, I want a ride when you done.
Kind of depends on who you ask. The guy next door. " That loud P O S "
My wife " That green thing " My Dad " The beast " My mom " What is it? "
My son " Unstoppable " His friends " Oh my F god "
The little girl down the road " Cool "

A good friend " Hookie "
I guess it would...
