I ran into this same problem on my 5 ton. It turned out to be the seal was really tight on the axle housing.

been using water filters to do the first stage. These work great. it is more like a bag filter.

I put a NAPA muffler on my wrecker. Made it so I could easy change from muffler to stock stake with ease. I think I posted some pictures on a past post about this subject. Your set up looks really good. I have learned the hard way that hearing protection is worth a million. To late now.aua
