    Smoking Alternator

I am going to bump this thread because it's relevant. Rebuilt GEN 1 today. When I gave it power, there was a pop, and then it started to smoke. Killed power immediately (I have a battery cutoff switch which came in handy). Now the cases are split again, and I don't see any obvious signs...

Assistance Needed - electrical question - variable 24v to 12v and back.

Agreed on the third battery. I run my inverter off of a blue top which is charged by a solar panel, and connected via an ACR to the truck.

    Alternator Rebuild

[/mod] The rules, should you have taken the time to read them, state (no pun intended) as follows [/not mod, being helpful]: So, nudge, nudge, you may want to throw a MO in there, else folks who really care will not think you are on the yayo. Regards.

    Alternator Rebuild

In your and Warthog's world, everything about a CUCV to everybody, can be solved by the TM's. Credit to Hog, he has ripped through everything and is a whiz at highlighting electrical diagrams. I've learned a lot from him. You post about it month after month, year after year, incessantly. I...

Rapid clicking sound usually means low/dead batteries. Test the voltages on the batteries first thing.

M1009 from Wyoming to Colorado with a bit of a detour.

Nice recovery report in many ways. Congrats on the M1009. Now spraypaint those wheel weights and feel free to stop by and chat if you are ever in Eagle County.

    Battery Isolators

Look at the Blue Sea Systems add a battery kit. I use solar to charge my camper battery, but have it wired so that I can tie it into the front two if need be (like really cold starts). It also allows the truck charging system to charge the camper battery as well. Really happy with it, but be...

Newby considering M1009 for hunting truck....need info

You obviously don't process your own meat. No offense, but I've taken a lot of elk and I can get over 300 from a decent cow any day. Either way, the CUCV plays no part in my hunting besides getting me to the trailhead. I've never taken an elk less than 5 miles and 2k vert of hiking on an easy...

starting my cucv??is yours the same??

I've never read a thread on SS's CUCV forum where someone didn't just post as the answer to a question, "It's all in the TM's". It's a completely annoying response, as is yours. Why bother at all- other than to pad your ego and post count? It must be really warm where you live, or, more...

Technical Assistance for leaking IP on M1008

I have the same problem. It's the throttle shaft seal. There is someone on this board who has replaced it without removing the IP. It's on my list, but to be honest, I probably just need to rebuild the whole thing. It's not a couple hour job either way. I feel your pain.

    Electrical problems, Need Assistance

Sounds like your card is fried. Try grounding the blue wire to the card and see if it cycles your glowplugs.
