Try a little sniff of ether and see if it fires. If it does, look at the fuel system. You may have anything from a fuel filter, lift pump, to an injector pump acting up. Check that the fuel shutoff isn't stuck. Verify that the lift pump is working, if the truck sat a long time (most in GL have)...

I used a couple of old shelter halves that I got from Desert Rat, some foam from a golf cart seat, and some plywood. I made new cushions for the bottom and back of both spring seats in my deuce. Cutting up an old Yamaha golf cart seat gave me some really nice, thick foam.

Definately short choke the chain. If he is in a single axle truck, you will win. Air down your tires to about 30 psi. Are you going to pull on pavement or dirt? That will determine a lot. Be careful.

Now that is a method to add to my list of things to do in awkward situations! Sounds like a good method, and as you said, nothing to lose.
