I finally got to sleeving my winch power cables. I ordered some of that braided plastic expandable wire sleeve. it wasn't a bad job to do, just had to unbolt one side and slip the sheath over it and a piece of heat shrink for each end. A few zip ties and that's that.
In my opinion it may be nearing time for a radiator if it can't keep the engine cool. You might try cleaning it out with any number of magic formulas with mixed results. Make sure there isnt any crud blocking the fins in the front of the radiator.
The fan clutch is a pretty simple device, you...
Roll down the window and look down inside the door and see if there's anything jamming up the mechanism or any of the bars in there. If you're lucky it'll be an easy fix. You might try spraying lube in the lock if everything looks ok and maybe you'll get lucky.
The injector lines are kind of a pain, but it's most likely a broken supply line if you've got a mouse nest. You can reach under from the back if you take the air cleaner off, and replace the hose that way. It takes some finagling, and laying on top of the engine but it's doable. And don't lay...
I would guess it's the fuel supply line to the injector pump. like the other guy said, if one of your high pressure lines has rusted through and burst, you'll get a pretty good spray.
When you replace the supply rubber hose, don't just get the cheapest hose you can find. At least get some 30r9...
How many batteries and alternators have you had to put in it so far?
Also if you don't know what was done to convert it then I sincerely doubt we are going to be able to help well. It could be that your glow plug resistors were not bypassed and now your glow plugs are only getting 2 volts each...
Might need to make sure that a 12v starter wasn't put on by mistake and immediately burnt up. If you could find that out, and check if it's even getting voltage when your turn the key to start you'll be a step further.
You can replace the filler neckwith one from a civilian truck and use the smaller cap if it becomes an issue in the future. You could remove the flap in the inside and be able to get all the flow you could ever desire.
If you could post a picture of it, that would help. It could maybe go to the bus bar, might be the cab power supply line. Could be custom, who knows. With a pic, it might be recognizable.
Some of the bulbs you can just reach in behind the instrument cluster from the bottom and change them out that way without taking the whole thing apart
Make sure your glow plugs are actually getting their voltage to activate when you are seeing the wait light. Potentially you could have a glow plug relay problem or glow plug controller issue.
From sitting so long, there's no telling in what shape the injection pump is in either. You can run a vacuum hose directly off of the vacuum pump to the modulator valve on the side of the transmission to at least get it shifting. It will shift real early and soft, but it will at least let you...
I got my rubber brake hoses put on. As soon as I finished bleeding the brakes, the master cylinder started leaking from the rear. So I got to put a master cylinder in as well. And bleed the entire brake system again. At least my brakes are better than ever now.
The little boxes are self resetting 50 Amp circuit breakers wired parallel. I can only assume that it would trip them all at a 150 Amp load. It does seem a little janky, but that's how it came.
It has ever so slight amount of room, about a quarter inch, between the wire and filler neck. My...
Right now the main power cable is running above the fan shroud zip tied to the coolant reservoir hose. I think its ok for now, and I hope the circuit breakers would blow if it did short. I do need to do a little more wire management down below. It's just sort of running on top of the front of...
I finally got my winch installed. I put in a 12k badlands from Harbor Freight in between the front frame rails behind the bumper.
I measured the width between the rails, and cut the mount to fit. One of the bolt holes wasn't quite right so I had to dust off my welder and fill about a half inch...
I finally put the heater core in I've been sitting on since last fall. The original one wasn't leaking internally but the hose barb was mangled when I bought the thing and i could never get it sealed right. I stuffed in some foam on each side of it so it would be sealed good.
Also figured this...
What did you end up paying for the rubber brake line if you don't mind saying? I'm fixing to replace the rubber lines on mine and expect to spend ten or fifteen bucks a piece for them.
