it looks like the driver side axle mount is pushed back

13 is the leaf spring shackle. Ideally it should be the same on both sides if your springs have sagged evenly.

Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

Yeah my wife signed my six year old daughter up for Irish dance out of some misguided idea that children have to be part of some activity or another. There has also been a new development on the issue. While fooling with it today, I noticed that the driver wheel hub was very hard to turn. The...

it looks like the driver side axle mount is pushed back

A tip from a guy who just did this, you can jack it up by the front axle and put large jack stands under the frame near the trans cross member. Then let the axle drop to get a lot more room for the top nuts. Make sure the sway bar is connected when you start to torque down the u bolts, or you'll...

Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

Alright, some info to report from today's tinkering. I did not attempt to reattach my sway bar before I removed the nuts from the leaf spring u bolts, so I can't say for certain that they did or didn't line up when I got back home. I went in there today and reattached it, the passenger side...

Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

I haven't driven it since I got it home and I don't remember if it dog tracked or not on the way back. I did measure the distance from the rear spring eye to the u bolt mount on the rear axle and each side was within an eighth inch of each other. I'm going to remove the steering intermediate...

Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

The last trip out did it. Before that it was fine.

Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

Its not lifted and is only wheeled on relatively easy trails, no hard rock crawling or mudding if I can help it. I go offroad maybe once a couple months or so depending on the groups schedule. That is what has me puzzled because everything Ive looked at seems perfectly fine. Edit: It does have...

Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

So after a trip to Hawk Pride in NW Alabama, my steering wheel is around sixty degrees offset to the right. I can't for the life of me find any reason for it to be this way. My main tie rod looks straight, my tie rods from the steering box to the knuckle seem straight. I undid both leaf spring...

M1028 Tire Pressure with BFG AT KO2

I run mid 20s on my e rated tires on the rear when empty also. It was the only way I could get the tire to have a contact patch all the way across the tread. My fronts run about 40. As little as I drive the truck, I doubt I'll wear the tires out from actual use.

    M1009 Return line diagram

Now don't quote me on this, but I believe the injection pump has a check ball on the pump itself. It shouldn't matter if there is a check valve in the return line. What is it you are trying to accomplish?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Not to poo poo your headers, but i think I'm more impressed with that sweet wooden engine stand, lol. I did an oil change and cleaned up some wiring under the hood. I noticed that for the last two years at least, the 12v supply wire had the fusible link at the power point on the firewall...

    M1009 dust proofing

When I put window glass runs and door seals on the 1028, it was night and day different. I suppose it should be, but the window glass rattle was gone, the doors shut tighter. I would recommend it to anybody. I did replace the passenger side vent window weatherstrip which was kind of a pain, but...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Had the driver alternator front bearing sieze. Went in and replaced the bearings in both alternators. While I was waiting on parts, I replaced the driveshaft universal joints.

    Troubleshooting M1009 6.2l Idle

I would lean toward air in the fuel lines first. Air in the lines will cause a poor idle when first started. A common source of a leak is the stock fuel filter base. What is your fuel filter setup, and have you gone through and replaced any rubber fuel lines on it?

M1028 Washer / Wiper intermittent malfunction

There is a cam inside the motor for the washer that breaks or strips out, something. Also mine would stop when you turned it off instead of parking, and it eventually fixed itself after a particularly vigorous rainfall and some time in high speed. I ended up adding a standalone pump to mine...

Yours was probably the worst failure of the event that I heard of.

Hit a bump and NO lights

If it shorted to 24v, it wouldn't blow the fuse since electrically it would use less current at a higher voltage. The brightness of a car bulb can be increased by upping the voltage, but in your case drastically decreased the useful life span. Another thing to consider is that the headlight...

Hit a bump and NO lights

If you say it got really bright for a second then went out, I wonder if somehow it shorted to 24 volts briefly. I have no idea if its even possible, but that could explain the brief very bright lights. And again, no idea where the power supply wiring for lights could come in contact with 24v...

    Starter run on

It sounds like the solenoid on the starter itself is sticking. Those are generally pretty robust, but maybe yours took a poo poo on you.
