ok I got the driveshaft off. But no success on getting this stupid broken starter bolt out. I am using a kobalt bolt extractor. It's not long enough so we rigged a wrench socket and stuck it in the drill. No luck. What can I do? A different tool??
Thanks for all the help.
Rick
ok stupid question. I took off the 4 nuts and slipped out the u-bolt lookin things. Now how do I separate the driveshaft from the front axle? Does it just pop off with some force?
I have a broken starter bolt closest to the rear of the truck. The driveshaft is in the way and I can't get a good angle to drill. My question is how hard is it to disconnect the front driveshaft?
ok i had multiple threads going so i decided to put all the pictures here.
i finished installing the humvee 12 bolts and 36" bias ply tires.
work i have left:
trim front to clear the tires
get a longer bolt??? not sure which one.
i hear the bolt for the steering stop? not sure what that...
I have not forgotten. I have taken pics of everything. I 2nd what mangus said. It's easy and it works like a charm. I will try to post your pics this afternoon.
how do you tighten down the spacers on the front? It keeps spinning on me.
also, does anyone have a pic where you can show me what to trim off the front end to run 36"?
RE: airsoft bb
hopefully I will be able to replace them soon.
I prob won't even balance them with bb's until I can replace the runflats.
I am not a fan of runflats. I figure there is a reason everybody ditches them immediately.
I just can't afford an insert right now.
RE: airsoft bb
they were free. I have to run something. I really want the dean reeds but I could not find them on his website.
i hate the runflats...too heavy.
Also I am broke. How much are dean reeds?
RE: airsoft bb
I just found the chart but I can't paste it on here cause I am temporarily researching via my phone. Punch this in google exactly:
chart how much airsoft bb's for balancing tires.
it should be the 4th one down. It says I need 8 oz per tire but with the runflats do I need more?
yes i meant marcorubber. editted the link above.
supposedly they should work for both the 8 bolt and the 12 bolt.
here is the thread i was talking about: http://www.carolinak5.com/forums/showthread.php?p=53229
