Ran first MEP-803a test on the house

I won't run the pool pump most likely in an outage, but this was part of the bigger experiment

Ran first MEP-803a test on the house

While running this unit today, I was thinking, what if somebody were to build a load banking device right into the radiator exhaust vent? Seems like it could be a cool idea to have it all self contained. Even cooler if somebody could work the implementation, would be to have a self contained...

Ran first MEP-803a test on the house

Finally got to load testing the generator on my house. It ran a 4 ton AC, 2.5 ton AC, pool pump and everything else at right around 90%. I attempted to add my water heaters to it as an experiment and it pulled the machine to a halt. No overload light or anything. Looks like the water heaters...

MEP-803A backwards wiring on load gauge?

Thanks for all of the input all; I'm going to keep the current configuration of S6 and S8 currently, but it would be an interesting project for somebody to make it a permanent 240 / 1 Ph unit. May have to revisit this if these components fry out.

MEP-803A backwards wiring on load gauge?

It's there a method to do away with s8 all together? Most of us use these for backup, so why not come in with a permanent solution?

MEP-803A backwards wiring on load gauge?

It's just wild I went from 2kw to over 12kw with that Deoxit alone.

MEP-803A backwards wiring on load gauge?

Just finally went through my personal MEP-803a unit for hurricane season. It's been a busy year so far, and I've been in a "cobbler with no shoes" scenario until now after adding my generator inlet box and panel interlock system. Might as well get it done while there's a hurricane out in the...

MEP-803A: Rain water in engine compartment

It can be tenacious, but a plastic scraper gets the brunt of pretty quick, especially on the flat surfaces of a MEP

MEP-803A: Rain water in engine compartment

If you're really trying to seal it, try out RV butyl sealing tape. It's about the perfect width and seals very well, and is pretty cheap. White Butyl Tape 1/8" x 1" x 30' for RV / Mobile Home (Single Roll) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BJLHH24/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_XfTpBb86XGGWT

    Fuel Screen on MEP-8XX cleaning?

Thanks, I'll have to try that. I'll also have to sneak one of my wife's pots out of the kitchen

    Fuel Screen on MEP-8XX cleaning?

Just attempted to fill my MEP-803A and it is super slow to fill, after I disassembled and finally got around to installing the ultimate well nut modification(s). I pulled out the inlet screen to inspect it and it's pretty gummed up (can't see any light through it). I tried some carburetor...

External Filter on MEP-803A Aux Input

That filter has what's called a super absorbent polymer in it. It's basically the same stuff that's in baby diapers. It can absorb up to 300 times it's weight in water. One saturated, it should stop flowing because it's swollen up. You may have no "free" water, or even entrained water, and...

External Filter on MEP-803A Aux Input

I like your corrosion control cart conversion. do you have both sides filled up with fuel and have them teed together or something?

MEP803A Feeding Whole House and AC Compressor - Soft Start Needed?

I am looking at the Copeland units as they are recommended / manufactured by the same people who make 95% old the HVAC compressors for the residential market. Not to say that the other ones are bad, but I'd stick with the same manufacturers to prevent any future potential warranty issues.

MEP-802/803/831 Generator Control & Parameter Monitor by WIFI Demo

kloppk, have you thought about crowdsourcing the development of this project using something like Kickstarter, to assist with development and production costs once your prototypes are completed?

MEP-803a Falls on its face under light load

I think you're FLA/RLA amps are what's drawing down your unit on startup, and you may be a good candidate for a Soft Starter. However, are you getting a Short Circuit light or Overload light warning? Do the fault lights press to test correctly? When was the last time you used contact cleaner...

    Generator AUX fuel connections

Great, thanks! I found a part number of the actual stopper on one of the NSN sites, but it didn't really get me anywhere regarding the piece parts. I"ll try the hose adapter method next.
