Powerhousedeuce - I am up for a ride at the end of April, let me know what time you want to meet up. Last week I got an 05 supercab 4x4 F350. It was a Brickman landscaping truck, so the sheetmetal is pretty beat up, but it has a 300 HP 24 valve V-8, a five speed...
X3 on the van seats. I got two new take out seats for $1 on eBay from a guy who wanted a cargo van with windows. Deals are to be had on craigslist and eBay. I bolted a seat in facing the rear. The middle of the seats was just a lap belt, the outsides of the seats have shoulder/lap belts. Mine...
I am in. I got a cargo cover for my deuce, so that should make camping nice. I am working on turning my '05 F350 4x4 supercab into a truggy. If I have that done in time, I will bring it rather than a jeep. The military equipment connection on the F350 is I have 12 bolt HMMWV rims and surplus...
m16ty - I don't know about those ratios. There is plenty of weight on the front end of a deuce as is. In soft ground the front end sinks before the rear.
The chart that came with the lift indicated that there is to be between 12"- 24" of overhang behind the hinges on a 12' bed. The...
I was showing my 5 year old son how the dump works this morning before he went to school. He was very impressed. The hoist is pretty slow compared to the prior hoists I had. I suspect that the F450s I had, each had a smaller cylinder than this one.
To mount my hinge, I also set the bed...
A bob deuce would be nice. The instructions had a chart that show the measurements for the distance between the hinges and hoist and rear overhang of the bed. The kits would fit most any flat frame.
I read over all the threads on the site, there was a lot of great information in each thread. With all the different systems, each will require different solutions. With the hoist I got, either the hoist needed to be recessed 3-4" (would have required cutting the factory frame cross-members...
I'm in Berks County. I did not see Hemmtt rims at Kublos when I was there. I had read about folks installing longer studs or other modifications. Your truck looks good. I have had tire envy for a few years. This had better cure it, as the next step is 66" Ag tires.
I mounted the bed, but did not take pics of that yet. The bed rails sit in/on the rear angle on the hinges, the hoist has two plates on round bar that extend into the channel on the bed rails and the front of the bed sits on the 2x4" tube. I did not need to modify the bed at all.
I may...
I am aware that there are issue with any rim you choose. I have not seen for myself where the tires will contact, but I have seen them work well off road without any problems in some situations were the suspension was pretty well articlated.
I do not expect it to have a tight turning radius...
After seeing several 5 tons with big tires, Powerhouse Deuce's in particular, in action at Rausch Creek, I got an 818 last October. Last month I went to Kublos in northern PA and got some 53" tires and a set of 5 ton rims that had worn 14x20 Goodyears mounted on them. Ken was very good to deal...
I took a few pics of my recent dump bed project. I read each of the threads on the site and a few others and then did it my way.
I bought a 7 ton hoist unit from Premium Supply www.premium-supply.com
It was has a 5" by 16" stroke. The kit is very generic and like several of the other kits I...
Let me know if I can help. It would probably be easier to pull the motor and swap in a used motor. You could rebuild your current motor as a spare so you know what you have. I could use a bunch of parts off that other truck I PMed you about.
Get that truggy done. In the mean time I'll lend you a Cherokee. I just got a set of 53" tires from Kublos for my 818. If I knew you were selling out I could have just bought your 818 and saved myself time and energy
Good information. Joe and I were having a ball off-roading, until this brake issue. Credit to Joe for all the PM and related work he has performed on his truck. If inspite of his regular draining of the tanks, he still had a problem, an air dryer appears to be a must have for winter use. I...
