I am looking for a M934 5 ton truck. I have tried to learn about a well known online bidding site that sells military vehicles.
I understand the process. I just got off the phone with an agent for the bidding website. I learned that I cannot go to the site and look over the truck I might be...
Got it Mounted
Since I started this thread and found the information useful, I thought you might like to see how it turned out. Here is my M1028A2 Truck, S250/G Shelter and M101A2 Trailer.
Thanks, Steve
Thank you for the very enlightening comments. The elderly owner/restorer is trying to pass it off as a authentic military Jeep. I think I'd rather have a 5 ton any how.
Thanks, Steve
Today, I looked at a 1942 Willy's Jeep that is supposed to be restored. I was told the body has been replaced from the windshield back. The engine has been rebuilt, but needs a carburetor. It is 12 volt. Nice paint job. New highway tires. No top. No shovel, etc. holder. Two front seats...
I now have an S250 shelter to go into my M1028A2 dually pick-up. Soon it will be painted and ready for installation. But, how do I install it? It has 4 short chains hanging from the top 4 corners and 4 small clevis rings on the 4 bottom corners.
I haven't found anything about installation...
I'd just like to take a moment to say thanks to all for teaching me about the options open to me to install a tach in my truck. This forum sure has a lot of good information. Heck, I even found the brown wire on my alternator. I'm looking to move my master power switch.
I thought it was original equipment, but wondered why it was right on the dashboard and the switch lever does not remove. My pinzgauer 710M had a master cut off switch but it was alongside the drivers seat and the switch lever removed. That made more sense.
OK, I'm back.
Attached is a picture of my M1028 dashboard where the main power switch is located. I believe it is where the tach fits in the instrument hole. My M1028 is the only one I have ever seen, so I thought all of them had electric cut off switches there.
Where could the switch be...
The tach that taps into the brown wire is installed in the dashboard right where my master electrical cut off switch is, so the switch would have to be re-positioned.
Where can the switch be installed so the tach can go in its place?
Thank you, all, for your help about this minesweeper. I talked to the Aardvark's owner and told him everything that I learned here.
FYI it looked like they were getting ready to take it out back for a ride.
I like these forums.
Steve
I have a M1028 that I am delighted with. I would like to install a tach to keep an eye on engine RPM's.
How can this be done with the 6.2 engine? I heard one can be plugged in to the back of the alternator. What tach should I buy?
I thought I would show it off.
Thanks,
Steve
The owner of the Aardvark would like to sell it. He has a number of $10K in his mind which is totally unrealistic.
I am told the machine is fully functional. I toyed with the idea of buying it and putting a coat of paint on it. It would look very good then. But, I have too many projects...
This minesweeper has been in an old truck lot for many years. There is also a deuce and a half that has been parked there for ten years. I might try and start the deuce and see how it runs (if at all).
I saw a similar minesweeper on the Aardvark website and it had rubber tracks. I don't know...
Thank you for identifying this machine. It is not far from my house and I found it to be pretty interesting, since I had never seen anything like it. The owner will be disappointed that it is practically worthless.
If this is the wrong forum, would a moderator please move it?
Here are pictures of a running Minesweeper. The front chain flail seems to mounted on a Ford tractor with a raised armored cab in the rear for the driver. The front tracks are all steel. The rear tires are pneumatic.
What is this...
An Optima question. So far I've read about Optima batteries with different color tops. What do the colors mean?
What is "cycle the glow plugs"? Wait until the dash light goes out?
Fortunately I am not on a budget. I've never seen a battery shaped like that Optima. I will look for batteries with at least 800 cold cranking amps tomorrow. I live in Florida where it doesn't stay cold for long in the winter.
I think the positions of the battery terminals matter. If my...
This is my first post here. Forgive me if this is in the wrong place and move it.
I recently purchased an M1028 dually and today it wouldn't turn over fast enough to start. I've determined it needs new batteries. I've searched this site and gotten a whole lot of good information, but I can't...
