If you are talking about the flatfender M38/MC. Yes they had tailgates. But there was no chains for them to open instead they were bolted closed, to facilitate the spare tire and gas can holder.

My alternator quit about a month ago. I finally got around to replacing it thursday. Still no charge. Today I took the old one apart, when I did I expected the regulator to be shot. But one of negative stator wires was melted, and the stud it was soldiered to was broken. Has this happened to...
Here is the way I tested mine, lots of glue, tape, 9v, C and D cell batteries. I used a 7 pin vacuum tube socket for the plug. The link posted above is a good way to build your own.

These things must be bright as h*ll with 3 lights. This is only one, as it was missing the other 2 bulbs. At least all 3 ballasts work. I was hoping this would be my cheap mv. The ballasts are 365.00 ea. and the bulbs 82.00 ea:-x.

I picked up my light trailer yesterday from Chambersburg. Here are a few pics of it. It needs alot of electrical work but the trailer is in good shape.

The second post appeares to be a cj-2a or 3a. The 3rd set looks like a mix of cj-5 and flatfender. And the 4th set is cj-5. You definatly have your work cut out for ya.
