Glad to do it. The fuel tank they may not have known about. It wasn't until I parked it on a slope with a freshly filled tank that it leaked and they probably never filled it full enough to notice.
The batteries and wipers, yeah I'm a little frustrated by those but if those are the biggest...
Yeah, the batteries thing kinda pisses me off, especially given that I HAD to buy new batteries that don't physically fit well just to get it off the transport due to time pressure. I was actually contacted by a Plan B mechanic on Facebook who I'm hoping can help me out with the wiper blades...
I did! Here's my "day 3 report":
The driver called me on Friday a couple hours prior to arrival and said that when he picked it up in Utah the batteries were dead and it had to be jumped to get it on the transporter so we might have to do the same thing to get it off. He was right, and it...
The cushions under the hood around the sling points...what are they called? My drivers side one is in great shape, the passenger side is literally falling apart. I'd like to replace both with new ones, but don't know what they're called.
No offense taken! I did not buy this from Plan B, I bought it from GP, so I don't have ANY historical data on it at all. I don't know how long it sat or what fluids were changed when, etc. Doing all these things a) gives me a chance to get to know my new toy, and b) gives me the confidence to...
Yep, that one's on my list. I suspect I'll go ahead and replace the belts proactively just so I don't have to wonder. Do you happen to have a replacement part number for them?
I've been reading everything I can get my hands on regarding maintenance of the HMMWV in preparation for mine to show up. Here's my plan for my first week of ownership:
Full tank of fuel (the needle in the auction pics looks like the tank is very near empty) with Power Service Diesel Additive...
They actually weren't bad. I've had a few sports cars transported similar distances that were comparable in price. Granted, those were in enclosed trailers, but I don't expect I would have done too much better than Veritread's best offer by arranging my own transport for the HMMWV. And given...
I spoke with the VA Dept of Environmental Quality before purchasing my M998. Here is what the VADEQ says about emissions requirements in the state (from their website)
Which vehicles require an emissions inspection?
Certain vehicles require a Virginia Emissions Inspection PASS or WAIVER...
79 RX-7....I loved those cars. :)
yeah, I'm aware of the restrictions. I primarily intend to go with the Antique tag just to get it on the road. Once I know it'll pass state inspection, I'll put a regular tag on it. Here in VA we have the Gadsden Flag plates, which I have on my other cars.
LOL...well, around these parts, if you're driving a vehicle on road and it doesn't have a plate light, you're likely to get pulled over. I think I'm going to do what someone else did and just register it as an Antique because then I'm not subject to state inspection.
Ok, what do I do with that code?
EDITED: LOL, sorry, didn't catch that what's displayed there IS the size/displacement. Thought maybe it was like a date code or something that matched up a build year which could be matched to a size. WAY overthinking it. LOL
