I only got 2 pics, one hooked to my little beercan truck, and one when I got home. Too rainy the rest of the time!
I noticed the front boots let go, not too surprising. I'll get a pair coming and get them swapped out. Minor leaks at the transfer case seals, probably not enough to be worth...
I was building my towbar, and one of the guys asked what I was doing. I told him I had bought a deuce and a half, and had to go get it. He looked at the towbar, then my little Nissan, and said "I really don't think that Nissan can handle pulling a deuce and a half".
He was serious! Do I know...
Sorry about being so long in answering questions, I have been A-- deep in alligators at work today.
I won a windshield frame from Bruce (seller) and decided to pick it up rather than ship, since it was only 3 hours away (only?). I wanted to look at a couple of parts trucks he has. I ended up...
I finally found a deal I could not pass up. 1979 M35A2 WOW. Just as it came from fort Benning 4 years ago. Running an LDT 465 1C, 1100R20 street treads, air seat, air shift, pioneer rack, new vinyl cab top, heater, decent 383 green CARC. This truck belonged to a missile battery, and spent it's...
That is a problem with the CD, there is too much information to sort through on occasion. It helps if you have spent years working on vehicles and reading service manuals. You kind of develop an instinct for finding the section you need, at least I seem to have done so.
The military manuals are...
Air drop should be pretty easy. Hook a drogue chute to the back bumper, roll it out the back.
Do this over enemy positions. Inspect deep crater in gound.
Oh!! You want to be able to drive it later? Well, that is a tad bit harder to do.
Why would anyone be airdropping a dumptruck?
I think you need the M-36 that is for sale on E-Bay right now. As a matter of fact, anyone that buys that truck and needs it stored, I can keep it here until you can pick it up. I'll even keep it limbered up by driving it 2 days a week for you!!!
I found the TM for the old hoist unit they made...
Call your local sign shop. I used to cut stencil masks for trucks. There is even a font in most sign packages that duplicates the old military stencil. The stencil will come on a piece of tape, just stick it down. You spray over the mask, let it dry, and peel the mask off. Most sign shops will...
You need to download the operators manual from this site. It will give you a lot of very good information. I have been re-reading mine every few nights. There is a good section on winch use in this manual.
If your deuce has the airshift transfer case, you have to flip the little air switch...
I think if you rolled some expanded metal around the muffler to duplicate the heat shield it would look a little better. The main thing that looks out of place to me is the color. If it was flat OD and black camo, it would blend in better.
Nice looking rig! Is that attic box the heater unit?
Get a fan blade wrench. I got one from one of the tool trucks about 25 years ago. Looks like a 24" long ratcheting wrench, with 1/2 and 9/16 bolt head adapters. It has an offset handle to clear the fan blade and keep your fingers from being shredded by the radiator.
Never had a radiator leak...
I will get the TM into the deuce CD. Any of you that have found applicable TM's that should be on the deuce or 5 ton CD's, please let me know. I have found the starter, inj. pump, tranny, and transfer case. Engine as well. I probably need to hunt down the generator TM. I would like to know the...
For the price of tubes and flaps for the big radials, I would probably want to run tubeless. I wonder if you could recenter tubeless supersingle trailer wheels? I have access to a big enough lathe to work 20" wheels, and the welding lathe to make the welding process easy.
How hard are the 5...
Yep. It is on the CD. You can download it from LOGSA, here is the number to look for: File number 018446,
TM 9-2910-226-34 Direct and general support maintenance, Fuel injection pump, 2 1/2 and 5 ton multifuels
