HIGH SPEED GEAR SWAP With Photos, 1995 A-0

Back to the project! After receiving my seal driver set, it became apparent that none of the discs would be large enough to properly drive the CTIS seals in.. aua . Thankfully my friend Mike Alley at A&B Fabrication, in Minden, created this from aluminum for the project... Using this I had...

No Soup For You! After cleaning one of the wheel hubs, I attempted to install one of the CTIS seals along with its plastic ring. Of note, on one side of the seal it says 'high pressure side'.. The 'soup can' as a seal driver, trick was sub-optimal in my case. After calling all of the auto...

With Company gone for two weeks, its back to Thor's gear project. New parts have arrived and are sorted from Meritor. I hauled the hubs in last evening and set about to see how it all comes out with the CTIS seals. This is how the seals are set into the hub. Its a spring retainer and you can...

HIGH SPEED GEAR SWAP With Photos, 1995 A-0

Project Status: On hold, pending parts arrival from Meritor. I decided to change out the seals at the ends of the front axle, just in case... I did get the drive shafts re-connected, so once the parts arrive we'll get back at it in earnest. Pointman

HIGH SPEED GEAR SWAP With Photos, 1995 A-0

Sunday, Sunday! Continuing the photo and write up, Sunday began again at 5:00. No helpers today, I am flying solo. Job #1 is to move the steering tie rod out of the way. A bit of heat from my torch and a light tap, and it was off and now supported by a floor jack on the drivers side of...

HIGH SPEED GEAR SWAP With Photos, 1995 A-0

Pulling front axle seals? Here is a question for the collective. There is a 'seal, plain encased', a 'bearing washer, thru', and 'bushing, sleeve' as described in TM-9-2320-336-24P, page 132-1. These are at each end of the front axle housing. What would be the best way to R&R these, and what...

I'd be curious to hear about your locker issues. Brand and type? What were the issues? I had a Detroit Locker installed in the rear gear set before I received them. I ran one before in a Range Rover Classic and had no problems. Pointmani

Yes, I did have the presence of mind to keep the sides separate. I had planned on checking the clearance anyway, but will the note the tip for the future, thanks! I also noticed some washers were missing in the spider gear set, per the parts manual. I will take my time putting it all back...

    Just got a 1997 M1078 LMTV.

We drove ours home to Nevada from Pennsylvania, in winter. If I can give a bit of advice, check all hose clamps and the compressor support bracket as soon as you can get your hands on it. I'm looking to get rid of my bed sides and troop seats if you are looking for some.. PM me. Pointman

    FMTV A1 floor coating

By looking at that, I'd bet is it Rhino Liner, and sprayed on. I did the entire floor of a 91 Range Rover classic from the footwell to the tail gate. It added 75 lbs to the truck, but oh so quiet and I could just hose it out. (Baja is dirty...) Pointman
